10 Lessons From Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) / The Prophets Series of Ramadan 2020

Allah said, ‘O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham.’ (Qur’an 21:69)

Assalamu alaikum, fellow Muslims and non-Muslims.

We may all know the importance of the Qur’an, the Holy Book written by Allah (swt). However, we may not necessarily follow the teachings of the Qur’an and follow the role models that were sent to the Earth to spread the word of Islam. In order to remind you of the important lessons taught by each of the significant prophets mentioned in the Qur’an, I will In Sha Allah, be starting a prophets series. This will contain lessons I learnt from each of the prophets. I am trying my best to In Sha Allah post every day of Ramadan about each prophet.

Today, we will talk about our seventh prophet, who still survived after being thrown into a fire. He is Ibrahim (pbuh). If you would like to know the story, sources are available below. If I also make any mistakes, I apologise and Allah (swt) knows the best.

You have wisdom if you believe only in Allah and you have been blessed to be a Muslim.

Ignorance can make people blind.

When Ibrahim (pbuh) destroyed all the idols, he asked why the idols couldn’t defend themselves. Even though the disbelievers knew that they were wrong, they were too ignorant to admit their mistake.

Keep your faith in Allah in times of trials

Ibrahim (pbuh) was saved by the fire and Hajra was told to stay in Makkah with Ismail (pbuh). Ismail (pbuh) also believed in Allah when he was about to be sacrificed by his father.

Allah can do anything

Allah made the fire cool for Ibrahim (pbuh). Allah also allowed Sarah to have a child in her old age.

No one can challenge Allah.

Namrood, the king, thought that he was the god and asked Ibrahim what his God can do that he can’t. Ibrahim (pbuh) said that Allah can rise the sun from the East which no one else can do.

Men aren’t allowed to harm women, you should respect them.

The king of Egypt wanted to harm Sarah but he couldn’t as his hand became stiff.

You should do Hajj if you are financially, physically, mentally and emotionally able to do so

Hajra (pbuh) did the first ‘Hajj’ as she was looking for help for herself and her baby son, Ismail (pbuh).

You should sacrifice an animal after Hajj (having met guidelines).

This is to remember the devotion of Ibrahim and Ismail (pbut) and their story.

Do not complain about what you have and be grateful for it to Allah.

Ismail’s first wife complained to Ibrahim (pbuh) about the living conditions and wasn’t grateful.

You should obey your parents for good.

Ismail (pbuh) divorced his first wife as his father Ibrahim (pbuh) told him to.

Teamwork is good.

Both prophets built the Kabah together.

These were some of the lessons that I captured from Ibrahim (pbuh). The story of Ibrahim (pbuh) is beautifully said in this Youtube video and book which I used to create this article:

Please share this article with your family and friends to get some rewards this Ramadan. In Sha Allah, you will stay well.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!
