8 Lessons From Prophet Salih (pbuh) / The Prophets Series of Ramadan 2020

‘And O my people, this is the she-camel of Allah – [she is] to you a sign. So let her feed upon Allah’s Earth and do not touch her with harm, or you will be taken by an impending punishment.’ (Quran, 11:64)

Assalamu alaikum, fellow Muslims and non-Muslims.

In order to remind you of the important lessons taught by each of the significant prophets mentioned in the Qur’an, I will In Sha Allah, be starting a prophets series this Ramadan. This will contain lessons I learnt from each of the prophets. Please be tuned at 10am UK time every day of Ramadan 2020 if you want to see articles about each of the prophets.

Today, we will talk about our sixth prophet, who guided the people of Thamud. He is Salih (pbuh). If you would like to know the story, sources are available below. If I also make any mistakes, I apologise and Allah (swt) knows the best.

You should be aware that as your wealth increases, your gratitude to Allah should also increase.

The people of Thamud were rich but performed idol worshipping and were ungrateful.

Wisdom, purity, respect and goodness are good characteristics.

Salih (pbuh) was known for having these characteristics.

You should not follow the mistakes of your ancestors.

The people of Thamud wanted to worship idols because their ancestors did in the past, even if they secretly knew it was wrong.

Allah can do anything

When the people asked Salih (pbuh) to ask Allah to make a she-camel out of a rock, Allah could easily do this.

Arrogance can hide the truth

Arrogance can make a person blind to the truth. For example, some of the people knew that this camel was from Allah but because of their pride, they refused to agree.

Do not kill a miracle

As in the verse above, Allah said not to kill the she-camel as it is a miracle but the disbelievers killed her anyways.

Your wealth cannot save you from a punishment.

The people of Thamud were certain that their stone houses could save them from Allah’s punishment but they were wrong.

Allah can forgive you as He is merciful.

Salih (pbuh) told his people to ask for forgiveness from Allah as He was willing to accept their forgiveness but they didn’t do that.

These were some of the lessons that I captured from Salih (pbuh). The story of Salih (pbuh) is beautifully said in this Youtube video and book which I used to create this article:

Please share this article with your family and friends to get some rewards this Ramadan. In Sha Allah, you will stay well.
