There are today’s Islamophobes making their usual derogatory remarks on Hijab. Then there are those Hijabis trying their best to continue wearing the Hijab. But what doesn’t get talked about often are non-Hijabis – what are their views and what can we do to help support them?

In this article, I will be sharing some of the reasons on why I don’t wear the Hijab and some guidance for my non-Hijabi sisters.

Quick Caveat: In no way should this article be used to attack, hurt or offend anyone nor should it be the only article you refer to when it comes to the Hijab. These are my opinions and please check with your local Imam to know more about the Hijab. I also obviously have no hate towards the Hijab whatsoever.

What is Hijab?

Many people think nowadays that Hijab only means the headscarf placed on your head, and it doesn’t matter how much hair is showing or if there is extravagance on it. However, this could not be further from the truth as the 8 conditions of Hijab according to this link is:

It should cover all the body apart from whatever has been exempted

it should not be an adornment in and of itself

It should be thick and not transparent or see-thru

It should be loose, not tight so that it describes any part of the body

It should not be perfumed with bakhoor or fragrance

It should not resemble the clothing of men

It should not resemble the dress of kaafir women

It should not be a garment of fame and vanity

This is mandatory. However, I do also believe that in the Quran it states that ‘there is no compulsion in religion,’ and in the Hadiths, it states that ‘ every action is based on intention.’

What Are Some Of The Reasons Why Some Muslim Girls Don’t Wear The Hijab?

→ I am a strong believer that I must have the intention to do something for the sake of Allah, otherwise it may not be accepted. Since I don’t have the intention to wear the Hijab, I believe that I am not ready to commit to it. Maybe one day In Sha Allah, I will get a sign from Allah to start wearing it.

→ Some may think it doesn’t suit them.

→ Some people may be treated differently or be at risk when they wear the Hijab due to Islamophobia.

What Can Non-Hijabis Be Doing Currently?

Ideally, we should try moving towards the Hijab as it is a command from God. But if you are in any situation, here are some tips you can follow:

If you are feeling confused about the Hijab:

→ make lots of Dua for guidance and leave it up to Allah

→ try to learn more about the Hijab or stay with Hijabis who are pious

If you want to start wearing the Hijab:

→ be fully ready

→ try going out with it

If you don’t want to wear the Hijab currently:

→ definitely continue doing your 5 pillars of Islam (they make you a practising Muslim and boost your Iman)

→ do small steps to move to modesty e.g. wearing clothes that cover the whole body compared to shorts or off-the-shoulder tops.

What Are My Final Thoughts On This Matter?

I think both Hijabis and non-Hijabis are beautiful in their own ways. Everyone is on their own journey in Islam and as a non-Hijabi sister myself, it can be scary to make an article like this because some judge my actions, however, this doesn’t stop me from being who I am and whether you wear thie Hijab or not doesn’t make you more or less of a Muslim.

The two biggest lessons are:

→ Wear Hijab only when you have the intention to do so.

→ Don’t judge others (whether you are Hijabi or non-Hijabi) but instead assume the best and try to advise them.

That was my short but detailed article on Hijab. I really hope you have enjoyed reading this article and I hope this helped some of my non-Hijabi sisters out there. Please do support all Muslims out there and never judge but instead advise 🙂

Make Ramadan 2021 The Best Ramadan! / Ultimate Step By Step Ramadan Prep Guide https://surobiscribbles.com/make-ramadan-2021-the-best-ramadan-ultimate-step-by-step-ramadan-prep-guide/ Sat, 10 Apr 2021 14:46:26 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1046

Verily, all things have We created in (planned) proportion and measure.

(Qur’an 54:49)

Assalamu Alaikum fellow Muslim or hello to my non-Muslim friend!

Ramadan 2021 is approaching very fast, and many Muslims around the world are preparing for this auspicious and blessed month. Planning is so important, as said in the Quranic verse above. However, how can you really prepare for this month? In this article, I will be sharing a step by step guide on how to prepare for Ramadan in 2-3 days. I have followed this guide for the past 3-4 years and Alhamdulillah, it has been working quite well for me.

Remind yourself what Ramadan really is for

Ramadan was not created for sharing Iftar photos on social media, nor was it created for you to compete on who can finish the Quran the fastest. Ramadan was created as a blessed month to remember our Lord, attain Taqwa (self-consciousness), build healthy habits and also how it feels like to be deprived of food like the poor. Set your intentions clear and sincerely feel excited for Ramadan.

Buy a Ramadan journal

I would advise to then get a separate A5 notebook with lined pages.I use the Oxford A5 Purple Notebook. Your notebook does not need to be pricey at all. This will be your Ramadan journal which you can use every Ramadan.

Reflect on last year’s Ramadan

Think about last year’s Ramadan and write down three things that went well and three things that you can improve on. This will help you to understand what you need to do to make this Ramadan better.

Write your goals for this year

Now that you know what you can improve on, you now want to go ahead and write about 3-5 goals for this Ramadan. My biggest tip is to keep these realistic, as I know that many people can get too ambitious with these goals but end up not fulfilling them.

Write a daily routine for the month of Ramadan

You now want to write how a typical day in Ramadan will look like for you.

First write down the times by hour on the side.

Next incorporate the times you will be doing compulsory work such as going to school.

Then, add in the prayer times.

After that, you can add your acts of worship into the routine, as well as what times you will be sleeping.

You can then count up how many hours you will be sleeping, studying and doing acts of worship.

One piece of advice is that if you are a student, study at the times you work best at. The best times to study would be:

→ Right after eating Suhoor until you have to go to school

OR

→ Right after Iftar until Suhoor

Make a table to track your habits

Now, you want to create a table where you will be shading in the habits. Here is an example:

Shade this every day in Ramadan.

Make a to do list for any remaining tasks you need to do before Ramadan.

The last step is to write a to do list for any tasks you need to do before Ramadan. Perhaps, you need to do Eid shopping before Ramadan. Maybe you need to reschedule your trip with your friends after Ramadan? Try to avoid doing heavy tasks during Ramadan so you can spend more time worshipping. Complete this to do list.

Mashallah! You have completed your ultimate prep for Ramadan. Remember to look at your Ramadan journal every day and you are good to go!

In Sha Allah you have benefitted from this article. Please comment down below your goals for Ramadan and share this article with your family and friends to earn some more rewards. I will be In Sha Allah be posting more articles based on Islam here on this website on Ramadan so please stay tuned.

May Allah bless us all and Allah knows best.

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!
