Assalamu alaikum, fellow Muslims and non-Muslims. 

We may all know the importance of the Qur’an, the Holy Book written by Allah (swt). However, we may not necessarily follow the teachings of the Qur’an and follow the role models that were sent to the Earth to spread the word of Islam. In order to remind you of the important lessons taught by each of the significant prophets mentioned in the Qur’an, I will In Sha Allah, be starting a prophets series. This will contain lessons I learnt from each of the prophets. I am trying my best to In Sha Allah post every day of Ramadan about each prophet.

Today, we will talk about our twenty-first prophet, who is Sulaiman or Solomon (pbuh). If you would like to know the story, sources are available below. If I also make any mistakes, I apologise and Allah (swt) knows the best. 

Listen to both sides of judgement. 

Once there were two women who each had one child, and when their mothers were at work, one of the babies were eaten. The mother whose child was eaten wanted to take the other woman’s baby. They decided to get judgement from Sulaiman (pbuh) and he listened to both parties to give a fair judgement.

Put faith in Allah.

Sulaiman (pbuh), just like all other prophets, had a strong faith in Allah (swt). This is vital to be a Muslim.

Don’t kill animals and appreciate nature.

Once Sulaiman (pbuh) and his army were going, and the ants were scared as they would be crushed by the army. Sulaiman (pbuh) heard the ants and ordered his army to be careful of the ants and not to kill them.

Allah can do anything. 

Allah gave the miracle to Sulaiman (pbuh) to be able to control the wind.

Black magic is Haram.

Many people at the time discovered balck magic to inflict harm upon others, but this is forbidden. Sulaiman (pbuh) took all the magic and buried it under his throne so no one would get access to it but the people unburied it after he passed away. 

You cannot worship anything else.

Allah is the one and only God and we cannot worship anyone else. The Queen of Sheba at the time worshipped the sun. Through some miracles, the Queen of Sheba accepted Islam as she realised how Islam is the true religion.

Do not desire for war, troubles or hardships.

The Queen of Sheba tried sending expensive gifts to avoid war with Sulaiman (pbuh) and his army when they tried to invite her to Islam. She was a strong and intelligent woman.

Women can be confident and modest.

The Queen of Sheba, after becoming a Muslim, is a good representative of being a wise woman.

Chapter 27 verses 20-44 in the Qur’an is the reference to find information about Sulaiman (pbuh).
