I have decided to start a new series all about cooking. Cooking has been a skill that I have always wanted to learn, so in this series, I wanted to record all the recipes I learn from my mother (who is a great cook!) and also share it here. These recipes are delicious and simple!

The second recipe that I cooked with my mother was potato cutlets (Aloo Chop in Bangla) which is one of my favourite foods!

Ingredients:

  • Salt
  • 5 potatoes
  • Sunflower Oil
  • 1 onion
  • Chilli flakes
  • Mint/Coriander
  • Tuna
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Egg

Recipe:

  1. First, chop up one onion.
  2. Add the chopped onion, one tablespoon of chilli flakes, one teaspoon of salt and some oil to a sauce pan and heat it for about 5 minutes until it’s cooked.
  3. Then, add the tuna (without the oil) to the saucepan and heat it for about 5 minutes more.
  4. Add the coriander/mint (optional).
  5. In another bowl, take 5 potatoes and peel the skin off.
  6. Boil the potatoes for 10-15 minutes and then drain the water off the potatoes.
  7. Mash the potatoes using the back of a glass.
  8. Add the potato mixture to the saucepan with everything else.
  9. Mix everything in the saucepan properly.
  10. Crack an egg in another bowl.
  11. Make round shapes with the potato mixture and circle it in the egg mixture. Then add breadcrumbs on top.
  12. Repeat this for all the potato cutlets.
  13. Fry them in a sauce pan with some sunflower oil for about 3-4 minutes each.
  14. Your potato cutlets are ready!

You can eat it refrigerated for the next 2-3 days and you can serve 3-5 people with this recipe (varies from portion sizes).

Thank you so much for reading, and have a lovely day!
