Pic credit: Regent Square Gardens

On Sunday 4th April 2021, my sister and I went to Regent Square Gardens. We sat down on the neches, had a chat, and also had an encounter with a dog. In this article, I will share my review and experience of going to this garden.

 What is Regent Square Gardens?

Regent Square Gardens is a garden in King’s Cross. It is described to be an ‘enclosed garden with benches, planted border, large plane trees and grassed areas.

What did I like about Regent Square Gardens?

  • It fulfilled the purpose of a garden – it had nature.
  • There were benches so I and my sister could sit down and relax.
  • It was an open space so you can have a picnic, exercise or meditate in this garden.

What didn’t I like about Regent Square Gardens?

  • It was a very average garden, and it did not have any activities or playground equipment, nor any colour.
  • It was also quite small, so if there were more people, it wouldn’t be very private.
  • At one point, there was a dog sniffing everywhere and eventually I and my sister just left (lol!)

Would I recommend it?

No, I wouldn’t really recommend it as it is an average garden that is quite small with little to no equipment. My sister and I did think it would be bigger and have more activities in it. It is good for if you want to just sit down and relax by yourself though (stay safe though).

Granary Square Review / An Unknown Place In London https://surobiscribbles.com/granary-square-review-an-unknown-place-in-london/ Wed, 14 Apr 2021 15:34:28 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1082
Granary Square

On Sunday 4th April 2021, I and my sister went to Granary Square, an area with two rectangles of water, seating areas and lots of people. In this article, I will be sharing my review on this place.

 What is Granary Square?

Granary Square is a tourist attraction in London, which is a public area in the heart of King’s Cross.

What did I like about Granary Square?

  • The public square was set out in a unique way with water and seating areas.
  • It is great for sightseeing.
  • It is quite nice to be near the water and enjoy the fountains.

What didn’t I like about Granary Square?

  • On sunny days (like when I went), it can get pretty crowded so beware of that.
  • If you do not want to get wet in the fountains, stay away from the water!

Would I recommend it?

Yes, I would recommend it but it is not a must-go place for me because even though it has a few distinctive features, it wasn’t too spectacular.

This was my short review or diary entry about Granary Square. These are my opinions about this place. Make sure to check out my other articles.

Word-On-The-Water / The Ultimate Place For Book-Lovers https://surobiscribbles.com/word-on-the-water-the-ultimate-place-for-book-lovers/ Tue, 13 Apr 2021 16:54:41 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1077
Word-On-The-Water

I love nature and I love books so on Sunday 4th April 2021, I decided to go to a special bookshop on the water. However, was this the perfect combo?

 What is Word-On-The-Water?

Word-On-The-Water is described to be a ‘quirky bookstore on a canal barge offering indoor & outdoor shelves for a wide variety of titles’.

What did I like about Word-On-The-Water?

  • The canal was very beautiful, especially when it was sunny.
  • There were seating areas so you could sit down.
  • It is quite a creative idea, and a good place to relax and chat to your loved ones near the canal (there were also more areas above the canal to sit and relax too).

What didn’t I like about Word-On-The-Water?

  • The pavement next to the canal was quite narrow, so it is very easy to fall into the canal if you are not careful.
  • The bookshop was quite crowded and you can’t really enter it.
  • It wasn’t very accessible, so I did not buy any books.

Would I recommend it?

No, I would not recommend it because even though the idea is creative, it was quite cramped and not too impressive. At the same time, it can be quite dangerous to go near the canal where there are no barriers.

Victoria Embankment Gardens Review / A Must-Go Place? https://surobiscribbles.com/victoria-embankment-gardens-review-a-must-go-place/ Tue, 13 Apr 2021 16:31:25 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1073
Victoria Embankment Gardens

On Friday 2nd April, my sister and I also went to Victoria Embankment Gardens, which was a colorful garden. As I love spending time in nature and parks in general, I was expecting this place to be really good. However, did it reach my expectations?

What is Victoria Embankment Gardens?

Victoria Embankment Gardens are a series of gardens on the north side of the River Thames between Blackfriars Bridge and Westminster Bridge in London.

What did I like about Victoria Embankment Gardens?

  • This garden was filled with grass and benches.
  • There were people having small picnics, as the weather was shining.
  • There were small fountains and trees which were beautiful (and some of the fountains had fish in them).
  • There was also a playground section.

What didn’t I like about Victoria Embankment Gardens?

  • There wasn’t really anything in particular I did not like; it was a bit crowded so if you want it to be empty, come in your own time.

Would I recommend it?

Yes, I would recommend it because it was a nice garden, and I liked the fountains but possibly on sunny days, it may be a bit crowded so keep that in mind.

This was my short review or diary entry about Victoria Embankment Gardens. These are my opinions about this place. Make sure to check out my other articles.

Waterloo Bridge / The Best View of London? https://surobiscribbles.com/waterloo-bridge-the-best-view-of-london/ Sun, 11 Apr 2021 20:50:11 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1059
Waterloo Bridge Photo

One of the first places that I and my sister travelled to for the Easter holidays was Waterloo Bridge. I went on Friday 2nd April 2021. You could see the London Eye from here and enjoy the views. However, would I really recommend this place?

What is Waterloo Bridge?

Waterloo Bridge is a road and foot traffic bridge crossing the River Thames in London, between Blackfriars Bridge and Hungerford Bridge.

What did I like about Waterloo Bridge?

  • It was quite different from the other bridges that I have seen.
  • You could see the River Thames from above and some boats, which was quite picturesque.
  • You can see the London Eye.
  • You can see people walking from a bird’s eye view.
  • You are right next to the streets where there are cars.

What didn’t I like about Waterloo Bridge?

  • I couldn’t really access the river so if you are going to be next to the water, this isn’t really the bridge.
  • The streets are quite narrow and even though the bridge is quite safe, don’t lean forwards too much as you may accidentally drop your belongings.

Would I recommend it?

Yes, I would recommend it because it was a very nice view of London and a very picturesque place.

This was my short review or diary entry about Waterloo Bridge. These are my opinions about this place. Make sure to check out my other articles.

My Startling Journey To Walthamstow Wetlands // Story Time And Review https://surobiscribbles.com/my-startling-journey-to-walthamstow-wetlands-story-time-and-review/ Sun, 06 Sep 2020 11:36:27 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=787 On Wednesday 2nd September 2020, my friend and I went to Walthamstow Wetlands. I went there for a variety of reasons such as to take some photos for my GCSE Photography, to have fun with my friend but also to check out this new place and end the summer off on a nice note. But did I really regret choosing this place and how was the day overall?

What is Walthamstow Wetlands?

Walthamstow Wetlands is Europe’s largest urban wetland nature reserve where you can do a variety of activities such as walking, cycling, bird watching or even just chilling with your family and friends.

What happened in Walthamstow Wetlands?

I have a fun story time to explain what happened when I went to this place. Firstly, my friend and I decided to rent bikes to ride to Walthamstow Wetlands. It was quite a struggle to firstly find bikes to rent, however, after taking three buses, we finally found it. But then, to our surprise, there was only ONE electric bike. We were quite annoyed but then we decided to rent this one bike and take turns to share. At this point, we were 15 minutes away by cycle to Walthamstow Wetlands so our journey started.

Firstly I used the bike for about 7 minutes but I had to slow down as my friend was walking/running. Halfway, we bought 10 spicy wings and then continued our journey. My friend then rode the bike up till we reached Walthamstow Wetlands.

When we reached Walthamstow Wetlands, we took some photos, chatted and relaxed. We also realised that the app was still charging us money for the bike even though we were not using it for the past approximately half an hour. We decided to leave and put the bike away but only to our surprise, my friend checked the app and saw that we could not put the bike in the same place again and we had to travel to Willow Walk which was about 20 minutes away.

Erm…so another journey began. I took the bus and my friend went by bike all the way to Willow Walk only to put the bike back.

I WAS GOING IN AN UNKNOWN BUS BY MYSELF WITH ONLY 6% PHONE CHARGE. YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT.

My friend was riding the bike as fast as she possibly could. After maybe about half an hour, my friend put the bike back, we met up, took the bus and went back to Walthamstow Central Station where we ate our wings. It was an absolute rollercoaster of a journey, but you know it was quite fun!

What did I like about Walthamstow Wetlands?

  • It was very calm and the water looked very peaceful.
  • There were barely any people which meant that we could very easily take photos and chat.
  • There was plenty of space to walk and ride the bike.
  • It felt good knowing that I was in Europe’s largest urban reserve.

What did I not like about Walthamstow Wetlands?

  • Since it is in a place where there aren’t many people, I would not recommend going by yourself to this place especially when it is dark as it may be unsafe, especially if you go deep into the urban reserve.
  • You can get bored easily if you don’t have many activities to do.

Would I recommend it?

I would recommend this place if you want to go to relax and just be peaceful looking at the water but for me, it is not a must-go place.

This was my short review or diary entry about Walthamstow Wetlands. These are my opinions about this place. Make sure to check out my other articles.

Lea Valley Park Review: A Fresh Piece Of Greenery https://surobiscribbles.com/lea-valley-park-review-a-fresh-piece-of-greenery/ Mon, 24 Aug 2020 10:46:12 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=751

In 6th August 2020, I and my sister took a train and a bus and headed down to a park called Lea Valley Park. We were planning to just sit, enjoy there and also chat about life. But what we saw was a little bit more surprising.

Firstly, the area of Hackney which is where the park was situated was quite busy and we realised that there were many Jews. This was quite a new experience for us as despite living in London for about 10 years now and having travelled to over 39 places around London, we had not seen a Jew-majority borough like this. With that being said, we shall now move on to the review of the actual park:

What is Lea Valley Park?

Lea Valley Park is a park in Hackney which in the entrance has a river and inside the park is a piece of vast land and there are also some valleys you can go up.

What did I like about Lea Valley Park?

  • Near the entrance, there was a beautiful river with some tables and chairs. There were some swans or ducks and it was quite pleasant to see.
  • I liked how the actual park was the perfect place to sit down and have a picnic which is what we saw some people doing.
  • It had a large valley that you could climb.
  • With a versatile park like this, you could play sports, exercise, relax, have a picnic, play games and do much more.
  • It was quite relaxing and I could take some photos.

What did I not like about Lea Valley Park?

  • I wished it had a bit more playground equipment so children and teenagers could play on it.

Would I recommend it?

If you want to add a new place to your list, then it could be a place you could say you have been to. But apart from the valley and the river at the entrance, it is not a must-go place. It was just a good place to relax.

This was my short review or diary entry about Lea Valley Park. These are my opinions about this restaurant. Make sure to check out my other articles.

Lloyd Park Review: Is It Special? https://surobiscribbles.com/lloyd-park-review-is-it-special/ Sat, 22 Aug 2020 20:07:57 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=744 One of the first places that I and my sister travelled to this year in the summer holidays was Lloyd Park. It was a park that was promised to have a river and other discoveries. So, according to me, was it really an extraordinary park and is it worth to go?

What is Lloyd Park?

It is a park that contains gardens, sports, activities, a cafe, a gallery in a historic home.

What did I like about Lloyd Park?

  • It was different in the sense that it had a river and you could look down on it from a bridge (to take photos).
  • It contained a pitch to play sports and there were benches available.
  • It is a huge park to do a variety of activities such as exercising, having a picnic, playing games, chatting, relaxing and taking photos.
  • In one section of the park, it had some beautiful coloured flowers.
  • There were different types of people.
  • There were some facts written on the floor.

What didn’t I like about Lloyd Park?

  • It was a very ordinary park so apart from a few things, it was pretty simple.
  • If you are walking by yourself, stay safe as the park is quite big and you can get lost and there may be people you do not want to see.

Would I recommend it?

Yes, I would recommend it because there were certain things in this park that not every park in London has but it is not a must-go place for me.

This was my short review or diary entry about Lloyd Park. These are my opinions about this place. Make sure to check out my other articles.

Victoria Park: Boring or Beautiful? https://surobiscribbles.com/victoria-park-boring-or-beautiful/ Sun, 27 Oct 2019 17:20:41 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=449

It makes me upset but proud to say that this was the last place of the summer holidays that I and my sister visited out of the whopping 39 places that we visited over the summer. I remember that my sister and I were in a bad mood that day, so we went to a quiet park to just finish our hectic, loud but amazing summer. But was it actually a good place to end the summer with?

What is Victoria Park?

Victoria Park is a park in Tower Hamlets and I was really surprised to find out that there are approximately 9 million visitors every year.

What did I like about Victoria Park?

  • When I went, it was pretty quiet which gave me time to reflect on the summer, look at the grass and nearly just meditate.
  • There was a large green space, which was like a breath of fresh air.
  • It is really big, so you can play cards, have a picnic, exercise or chat to your loved ones.

What didn’t I like about Victoria Park?

  • It was quite plain from the entrance I took and I didn’t really see anything special -there was just grass, trees and benches. I did hear apparently that there are other attractions in the park but unfortunately, my sister and I got bored and left.

Would I recommend it?

Not necessarily, because it is just an ordinary park and we didn’t see any attractions. Maybe if you want to relax, it would be a good place to go or if you want to see other attractions, maybe go from a different entrance that we took.

This was my short review or diary entry about Victoria Park. These are my opinions about this place. Make sure to check out my other articles:

Sky Garden: An Unforgettable Experience https://surobiscribbles.com/sky-garden-an-unforgettable-experience/ Sat, 26 Oct 2019 21:36:25 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=439

‘Sometimes the best events are the ones that you have to wait for.’

Without any hesitation, I must confess that Sky Garden was the best place that I had been to this summer. I remember my sister booking seats for us at the beginning of the summer holidays with excited looks on our faces, and it was much better than we expected. It was indescribable and truly underrated as not many people know about it. So, since you guys already know how much I loved this place, it is now time to explain my adventure:

What is Sky Garden?

It is a scenic point, also known as a skyscraper featuring a top-floor restaurant.

What did I like about Sky Garden?

  • I loved the impeccable view – you can see some of the most famous tourist attractions in London in one go. It is very high up and amazing!
  • I also really liked the plants inside the building as it just gives it an exotic and natural vibe, and not every restaurant has some fresh plants inside.
  • One of the most amazing things is the price to enter: it’s free!
  • The place was overcrowded even though not many people know about it so again, it truly gave the vibes of diversity as I saw people of different ages and cultures.
  • It provides seating areas where you can sit down – I loved playing cards with my sister in a skyscraper – it truly felt magical.

What didn’t I like about Sky Garden?

  • As much as I love complimenting this place, I must say the small cons. One thing that I didn’t like was the lack of or no Halal food available. In the restaurant, I just wish there was food available for different religions.
  • Also, you do have to book to come in at least 3 weeks or one month in advance, which may be a disadvantage to some tourists who only come to London for a few days and not able to book. But I didn’t mind this as I truly thought the wait was worth it and booking decreases overcrowding.

Would I recommend it?

You should know the answer by now: YES. But obviously, if you are scared of heights or you hate overcrowding, maybe it’s not for you.

This was my short review or diary entry about Sky Garden. These are my opinions about this place. Make sure to check out my other articles:
