I am starting this mini 5-part series on my website which is ‘How To Survive Secondary School’. As a 16-year-old who has just finished secondary school and got some decent grades Alhamdulillah but also had a great experience, I wanted to share my ultimate tips on how to survive secondary school.

This is the second article I will be making in this series. And that is all about the organisation. You may have heard of the quote ‘if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.’ Organisation is you planning out your life and clearing out your environment around you. Feeling peaceful, right? In today’s article, I will be discussing this so here are my 10 tips:

  1. Keep two different planners.

Now you may be scratching your head wondering: WHY? Well, I recommend having one planner only from school where you write down all your homeworks. And then when you come home, incorporate those homeworks into your second planner which is for life. My homework planner was given by school while my life planner is my trusty bullet journal! Check out more about this here.

  1. You don’t need to do back to school shopping.

This might sound very controversial bearing in mind that there are thousands of posts all about this. What I mean is you should not buy unnecessary stationery that will not help you, that your school does not require you to buy or just to make everything look Instagrammable. Focus on it being practical rather than pretty.

  1. Have the essential stationery in your pencil case.

Your pencil case should contain the essential stationery. This is what you take to school. Try to also go through this pencil case weekly to avoid clutter and to replace any stationery that may get lost.

  1. Don’t be afraid to say no.

This one is for all those people-pleasers out there. You may feel guilty if you say no to your friend who asked you to use your glue stick for the sixth time this week. But the more you keep letting people use up your items, the more people will keep doing it. If you realise you are wasting money buying new stationery too often, it may be time to say no to your friends who ask for your stationery.

  1. Pack your bag and tidy up your uniform the night before.

This habit is one that I stuck to from Year 7 all the way to Year 11. This saves you energy in the morning, prevents you from getting late, makes you organised and can sometimes even save you from detentions.

  1. Keep your notebooks neat.

I am sure that a lot of people go through that phase where they keep stuffing worksheets in their Math book telling themselves they will stick it in ‘later’. Later never comes and they end up with a thick notebook with disorganised sheets and you may find your science worksheet in your RE notebook. To prevent your documents from getting everywhere, keep them organised by putting them in a pocket/wallet or folder or maybe sticking them into your notebook.

  1. Tidy up your room every night.

This is one that many people hate to do but if you want to save yourself from procrastination, unnecessary stress, demotivation and laziness, just do it.

  1. Have your own study space.

This is crucial to differentiate between study and play. Having one designated space for your studies allows you to keep all your school things in one place so when you get ready to work, you have everything in one place. If you don’t have a desk, you could also make a study caddy that you have with you when you are ready to study.

  1. Create a routine.

You may need to wait until you get your timetable but having a general outline for the morning and the evening allows you to stay productive and reduce your decision fatigue.

  1. Have a digital declutter every now and then.

It is very easy to forget about your devices when organising but remember that we spend many hours on these phones and laptops. Check your emails (personal and school) regularly and delete those that are not needed. Do the same for your photos in your phone gallery. Also, delete apps that you don’t need.

That was my article all about how to keep organised. Organisation is a crucial part of school life as it will help you to feel put together. Please share this article with anyone who is going back to school or is in secondary school!

And look out for the next article on this series. You can stay updated by subscribing to my weekly newsletter for free.

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!

How To Remove Your Distractions And Start Being Productive https://surobiscribbles.com/how-to-remove-your-distractions-and-start-being-productive/ Sun, 04 Oct 2020 19:12:59 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=833 From your phone to noise to an unclean environment, there may be distractions all around you. But in order to have a productive study session or even while learning a new skill, it is vital for you to remove those distractions and ensure that you have high levels of concentration to get the work done. But the question is: What are distractions and how can you actually remove them?

In today’s article, I will be answering this question to ensure that you have a distraction-free zone to complete all your tasks.

What Is A Distraction?

A thing that prevents someone from concentrating on something else. – Google

For example, if you are trying to do your math homework while also trying to talk to your friends unnecessarily, it may decrease your productivity and efficiency of that task or it may just take longer to complete the math homework. Everyone gets distracted but it’s about how you deal with it.

Examples Of Distractions:

  • Phone
  • Social Media
  • Unnecessary Noise
  • People Talking To You
  • An Untidy Area
  • Negative Thoughts
  • Being Hungry
  • Being Tired

How To Remove These Distractions:

Phone

If you are not using your phone for your work and you don’t need it while working, put it away.

Try not to place the phone in your work area. Put it in another room, give it to someone else in your family, put it in aeroplane mode or even use an app such as Forest to grow trees while you are studying. These are all pretty good ways to ensure that you are not using your phone while studying.

Social Media

Well let’s say that you need to use your laptop for your homework but you still have access to all your social media in your laptop…what do you do then? In that case, I would say to place an extension on your laptop. Use these at your own risk. With these extensions, you can block certain websites that distract you for a set period of time while you are working so you can’t access them. Problem solved.

Unnecessary Noise

If you are studying in a library, for example, and there are people talking which is distracting you and making it difficult for you to focus, I would suggest trying to block out the unnecessary noise by either playing white noise, listening to non-lyrical music or even moving to another area. If it is someone who you know making the noise, you could simply tell them to quiet down respectfully.

People Talking To You

If you are trying to study and your brother comes into your room and starts distracting you, you could simply try telling them to come back when you are free. Try to maybe have a notice on your door to let your family know when you are studying if needed to prevent them breaking your bubble of concentration. If your friend tries talking to you face-to-face, explain nicely that you are studying and they can come back after a set amount of time.

An Untidy Area

Sometimes, the distraction may lie in where you are studying. If you look at your study space and realise it is untidy before even starting to study, chances are you may feel like procrastinating. Therefore, if needed, spend 5-10 minutes before starting to study to tidy up. Not only does it make you feel put-together, but it may also increase your productivity for your next study sessions.

Negative Thoughts

If you are trying to study while having worries, it may decrease your productivity as the worry may take control of your focus. Instead, try to write down these negative thoughts and write the solutions next to it. If you don’t have a solution, then assign yourself time for when you will deal with that problem, either by thinking about it or talking to someone. This will ensure that you can give your full focus to your work.

Being Hungry

Some people cannot concentrate if they have not had their food. Therefore, in order to solve that problem, you could simply make sure you have proper meals during the days and also make some quick study snacks to have while you are studying. Mind you, I said ‘quick’ which means you can make the study snacks in 5-10 minutes, it should not cut out your studying time to make these.

Being Tired

If you have not had enough sleep the night before, it is more likely you will feel tired and lose focus very easily. Try to get the work done quickly and then have an early night to get the optimum hours of sleep you need. If you are just tired because you have had a long day, take regular breaks in between your study sessions so you have time to rejuvenate yourself.

There were some of the distractions that I could think of. Remember, it is okay to get distracted or even have a low day because it’s part of human nature and you can learn how to deal with it. But just keep working hard and don’t stress.

10 Ways To Have A Productive And Amazing Weekend https://surobiscribbles.com/10-ways-to-have-a-productive-and-amazing-weekend/ Sun, 27 Sep 2020 15:17:21 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=822 A lot of people look forward to the weekends, thinking it will be their time to pause and relax. However, have you ever been in that situation where you finally reach the weekend only to realise that you have nothing to do? Well, in today’s article, I will be sharing the top 10 things to do at the weekends especially if you are a busy student like me. These can both fun and/or productive, leaving you feeling ready to survive the next week.

Make a weekend to-do list.

I would recommend that on Friday after school, make a weekend to-do list with all the tasks that you want to do. This includes your homework, chores, events and also all the rest of the things on the list. Then, you can prioritise your tasks. I recommend leaving one day of the weekend for mostly studying and revising and the other day to do extracurriculars and have fun.

Wake up early.

Try your best to stick to wake up around the same time at the weekends as you do in school. Not only will your body clock be used to waking up at that time, but you will also realise that you have time in the morning to be in that productive mode. A bonus is that of, for example, you wake up early on Saturday and do all your work in the morning, you might even have the rest of the weekend free.

Study and have breaks in between.

This article would not be complete if I did not mention something that all students do and that is to study. Of course, when I say study, make sure it is adapted to you. Some people like to work for 8 hours straight (which may not be healthy) and they finish all their work and others like to spread their work out and have regular breaks. Regardless of what type of person you are, ensure to put your phone away while studying if you don’t need it and work in a clean environment.

Practise some self-care.

A lot of students forget to do this in the midst of their busy lives but remember to incorporate some self-care into your routine. For example, you might have a spa routine on Sunday mornings or write down your feelings. Remember the weekend is the time to study and relax.

Exercise.

Another thing that you can definitely do in the weekends is to exercise. Whether it’s by doing a workout at home or going to your local park or gym, getting some form of exercise is really good.

Do an extra-curricular.

Extra-curriculars are so important to ensure that we all are learning things even outside of school. Your extra-curricular at the weekends could be joining a club, writing an article for your website (like what I am doing right now) or even learning something for a course or YouTube video.

Talk to your family.

If you are busy during the weekdays, chances are that you don’t have enough time in the weekdays to talk to your family who literally lives under the same roof as you. Make sure to spend at least 2 minutes to greet everyone in your family and catch up with them.

Do chores.

Cleaning your environment can actually make you feel so organised. Ensure to clean your desk, for example, and see how you feel afterwards.

Reward yourself e.g. hobby.

It is important to reward yourself every now and then because it gives us motivation for the future. Make sure to reward yourself by either performing a hobby or even going out with your friends (stay safe though!)

Get ready for the next week of school.

On Sunday evening, when your weekend is just about to end, start to prepare for the next week of school. Ensure you have completed all your homework, packed your bag and tidied your outfit for Monday, and maybe even done some meal prep.

I hope that this article will help you to have more of a productive but fun weekend. Make sure to take these one step as a go and incorporate them into your routine and you will realise that you won’t get that bored at the weekends.

As always, please comment down below your thoughts on this article and feel free to check out my other articles relating to Islamic content, My Experiences, Teenage Advice, Book Reviews and Poetry.

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!

How To Learn New Skills For FREE https://surobiscribbles.com/how-to-learn-new-skills-for-free/ Mon, 29 Jun 2020 09:59:42 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=684 Nowadays, a lot of young people say that they don’t have enough time. And this usually strikes me because we all have 24 hours in a day and yet, we think that time is what is limiting us from fulfilling our dreams and goals. My name is Surobi and I am a 14-year-old teenager and I’m not going to lie to you when I say that I think I have some extra knowledge outside of my school curriculum thanks to the free facilities I have around me.

By using these free skills, I have been able to make my own podcast, website and build 2 Instagram pages that are growing.

Before you think about starting to learn a new skill, you need to ask yourself three questions:

  • What skill do you want to learn?
  • Do you have time to learn this new skill?
  • What value will it add upon you?

If you feel that you need more time, get your priorities straight, remove your distractions and build a routine. It may be difficult at first but you will stand out.

So here are the 5 TOP FREE ways you can learn new skills.

YouTube

Absolutely the best way that I could think of to learn free skills was YouTube. YouTube is where you can watch free videos and little do many teenagers know that there are so many skills and knowledge available. Even if you can’t decide on any skill right now, you could watch documentaries and also speeches like TEDTalks. One of my best shows that I watch is Dragon’s Den, where I have learnt key terminology like ‘net profit’ ‘margin’ ‘turnover’. You have no excuse to learn at least one new skill if you have YouTube.

Free Apps

Many apps nowadays are absolutely free and getting the premium version is not really necessary. Duolingo and Memrise are great examples for those of you who want to learn the basics of a language. If you want to memorise a religious book such as the Quran or the Bible there are free apps out there with the whole text. You can learn from these apps from 5 minutes a day to hours, the choice is yours.

Volunteering In Your Local Community Or School

Some people don’t realise the potential of their own local community or school. If you especially live in a developed country, your borough or school may be holding events for young people which you may not even know. Try to research about your borough or ask one of your teachers about clubs and if you find some events, ask your parents if you can join them. For example, some boroughs/schools have a basketball club, drama club and other activities to teach and give opportunities to young people.

Blog Posts

How many times have you not known something and you Googled it? If so, you may know the wide access to blog posts that are absolutely free. In fact, you are reading about how to learn new skills in a blog post right now. Some say that you can even learn how to master using Microsoft Excel through a number of free blog posts that are out there.

Free Courses And Audiobooks

A lot of people think that the only way to get access to a SkillShare class or a Udemy course is to pay but some recommend to start with the free trial and if you really like it, you can actually pay later. If you are a teenager with a budget, you could save up some money if you really like the free trial but if you can learn what you need within that free trial, that’s not wrong too.

These were some of the ways you can learn free new skills. I am very privileged to be able to buy facilities if I need to but I understand other teenagers may not be able to do that.  Use these tips to your own risk as it is your choice. And remember, that you should never give up because that is just not worth it. Stay safe, happy and well.

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!

COVID-19: What Students Should Do Before School Reopens https://surobiscribbles.com/covid-19-what-students-should-do-before-school-reopens/ Wed, 27 May 2020 11:45:30 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=664 All around the world, we are facing an uncertain time of COVID-19, as I am writing this on Wednesday 27th May 2020. Schools have been closed in the UK, exams have been cancelled and so much has happened (as said in sources linked below). This can be very detrimental to many students who may be suffering from mental health issues, those who get bored easily at home, or who lack self-discipline. But do not worry, this is an issue that many students are facing. So in today’s article, I wanted to share a few things that I feel you can do before you return to school. You could use this as a checklist or bucket list and see what you can achieve before stepping in for your first day of school again. Do any of these tips to your own risk and at your own choice.

Take care of your mental health.

Since this is already a very uncertain time, you do not want to burden yourself too much with too much work. This can be the time for you to pause and reflect on yourself. If you lack motivation, feel burnout or require some purpose to get back to work, I recommend that you just take a break for possibly 2-3 days where you take care of your mental health by meditating, praying and talking to someone (video calling or people at home). I don’t recommend using too much social media at this time. However, you should not use the excuse of ‘mental health’ if you feel completely fine and you just want to procrastinate.

Organise your house.

Since nearly half of the academic year was nearly completed, your house may have started looking a bit disorganised. If that is the case, this is the perfect time for you to spice up and clean your house. Redecorate a bit of your house, organise everything and just live in a clean environment that you will feel productive and happy in.

Write down your goals.

As life could have taken a turn for you, especially if your exams were cancelled, it can be hard to define what you want to do currently. So, therefore, I recommend you to just grab a pen and a piece of paper and write down who you want to be in the future. Then try to write an action plan for your goals and how you can reach this. This will redefine your purpose for life.

Make a routine for yourself during this period.

It is best to try to make a routine that is adaptable to you only. If you find that you are distracted by younger siblings, for example, maybe you could wake up earlier when they are still asleep and get some work done before they wake up. Find a routine where you can really manage your time and obviously remember to have breaks in between.

Try to stay up-to-date with your schoolwork.

I recommend that you try to stay up-to-date with your schoolwork as later on, it can pile up. If this is hard for you to do due to the numerous distractions you have around you, then stick to the routine that you have made and maybe tell someone in your family to keep you accountable. You could also try to stick to your school timetable as closely as possible and try to do your lessons, especially if you are set work from your teachers.

Practise self-care.

Self-care does not only mean just having a spa routine, but it also means making sure that you eat well and exercise regularly. This is vital for you to ensure that you are also taking care of your physical health especially before going back to school.

Have a habit tracker.

This relates to my previous point about practising self-care and that is track those habits. Essentially, this is when you have a table with different habits you want to do regularly, such as having limited screen time, praying and exercising. You can tick these off daily or weekly. This will also help to build self-discipline.

Talk to someone regularly.

We, humans, are social creatures and I know it can be hard for most people to be told to stay behind shut doors and not be in the midst of our usually busy lives. However, if quarantining is recommended by the Government, we should follow it but if you need to talk to someone, I recommend that you talk to your family members who live with you at home, or alternatively, text, call or video chat your friends and relatives who don’t live with you.

Have a side project.

If you don’t have an extracurricular activity or a side project amongst your normal workload, then this could be the time for you to introduce this into your life. Starting a side project requires commitment but you can experiment now to see a side project you could do. Examples are creating a website, a Youtube channel, an Instagram or a Pinterest board to share with this world.

Learn something new.

This is also the time to gain some extra knowledge by watching relevant TED talks and documentaries. Knowledge is surely power and if you have always wanted to learn about a good specific topic or read that good book, then this is the time for you to do that!

I hope this article is helpful as it is like a checklist that if you want to follow if your school is currently closed due to coronavirus. Make sure to check out these sources for more information:

10 things to do before the New Year 2020 https://surobiscribbles.com/10-things-to-do-before-the-new-year-2020/ Tue, 24 Dec 2019 10:00:00 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=476 Have you ever felt like you were starting a new year, feeling excited, and gave yourself so many new goals that you never managed to complete?

Well, there is no need to sulk because, in today’s article of the month, I will be sharing ten things that you can do before the New Year to have that refreshing feeling, but hopefully also one step closer to achieving your goals.

These tips are subjective and it is your choice on whether to follow them or not :).

Plan your New Year’s Resolutions

Okay, I know that some people are probably fed up of setting themselves New Year’s Resolutions and failing to complete them within the first week of the new year. However, remember to never give up and keep going. A great example of this is my sister who despite having gone through most of this year, she still managed to lose weight on the last few months which was one of her goals.

One tip is to give yourself small achievable goals for each big resolution and set yourself up to three or four resolutions.

Organise your room

If your room is looking a bit like an old bird’s nest, it is time for you to clean up.

Cleaning helps to not only make you feel fresh and organised for the year, but it also helps to declutter your room.

What’s more, you can also add some new room decor to give a new vibe to your room.

Spend time with your family

Throughout the year, you may have been quite busy with ongoing tasks. Now that the year is ending, I think it is the best time to reflect on your year and rejuvenate by having a good old chat with your family about anything and everything.

Ask for forgiveness

Starting a new year is like planting a brand new farm ready to grow new trees of memories. If you don’t want that old weed to be stuck in your farm, I would recommend that you forgive people who have wronged you to get that feeling out of your chest and ask for forgiveness to start the new year with healthy good relationships.

You could also eliminate toxic people from your life to begin a year of positivity.

Do one random act of kindness

Being kind gives peace to your soul.

Therefore, do as many random acts of kindness to have that feeling of warmth and happiness in your soul from remembering the person’s smile that you helped. Trust me when I say that it will make you feel good inside.

Set up a planning system that works for you

Realised that you were quite disorganised this year and drowning in cramming or last-minute work stress?

Not to fear, maybe the solution is to plan efficiently and write to-do lists. Set up a planning system where you will keep track of your activities and write to-do lists. Some examples are bullet journaling, a pre-made academic diary, a simple notebook or even a digital app. Set it up to be motivated to start using it.

Envision yourself in a year

Imagine yourself in a year. Even if there isn’t a drastic difference, you should want to improve yourself as a person internally and externally. Set a few goals of who you want to be and keep them realistic. You could also make a vision board or make a word of the year.

Complete any unfinished projects

If you had any ongoing projects throughout the year, then it is possibly time for you to complete them. For example, maybe you were saving for a bag and after you saved, you never got around to buying the bag. You can now complete that task.

Reflect on this year

As well as preparing for this year, you must also reflect on this year. What were the positives and negatives? How can you improve? As I always say, there is always room for improvement.

Write a letter to yourself to read for next year at that same time

This is like a time capsule. Write a personal letter to yourself to read next year. For example, if you write about the whole year on 31st December, keep that letter and don’t read it until next year’s 31st December. It is exciting, personal and fun!

These were ten things that I think everyone should do before the new year. It is your choice if you want to follow these or not and if this list looks a bit overwhelming, don’t worry, it is actually fun! Make sure to share this article with your family and friends if you enjoyed and please check out my other articles:

P.S I just wanted to say that I am so grateful and happy for anyone who has even taken a moment to click on these articles. I believe I have written over 50 articles on this website this year and I have enjoyed doing so. I feel blessed to have gone to so many new places and discovered so much this year as well as having fun!

Thanks to everyone!!

Thank you for reading, have a lovely day and Happy New Year!

One Of My Best Years: 2019 https://surobiscribbles.com/one-of-my-best-years-2019/ Mon, 23 Dec 2019 10:48:11 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=472 2019 has been an amazing, hectic year. I can’t even begin to describe my joy on the experiences I had, the lessons I learnt and the number of times I have seen myself and others smile. I am so so grateful to have everything that I have in life and I am so happy that Allah has given me one extra year to live to the fullest. Not only did I go to many places, but I also became more outgoing and I was also able to write my moments on this website. This post will hopefully allow me to express my emotions and reflection this year. I also advise that you also reflect on your year so that you can feel blessed for this year and improve yourself for the next year. It’s just amazing how over 7 billion people in this one planet get the same amount of time each day but everyone uses their time in a different way. That’s what makes each and every one of us special and different.

Anyways, I can probably sit here all day long telling you my gratitude towards everything but I really want to highlight the important events of this year.

My word of the year 2019: Progressive

My definition of progressive: someone who improves themselves or is more open-minded to things like change.

The dictionary definition of progressive: Happening or developing gradually or in stages. It could also be favouring change or innovation.

This year, I feel that I went out of my comfort zone to push and improve myself. I achieved this in several ways such as:

  • Going out with my friends more frequently to improve communication skills and build stronger friendships. This also helped me to try new foods as we went to some new eating places of different cuisines.
  • Travelling with my sister to 39 places around London which built our confidence, gave us new stories to tell and made ourselves feel grateful to live in such a wonderful place.
  • Got more confident to post pictures of myself in social media which helped me start new conversations with some friends.
  • Became more ‘health-conscious’ as I try my best to exercise regularly and also try to avoid sugary foods.
  • And of course, posting over 50 articles on this website! Even though I opened my website last year, I feel like I really fell in love with creating articles this year. I hope that I have helped at least one person out there or made them smile.

The main lesson that I learnt this year is to have low expectations but work hard. This tip was given by my brother. This was after I had high expectations to do well in a math test and got quite low on it. I was really disappointed but on the next one, I had low expectations and worked hard and scored higher. I feel that it made me less stressed and it felt more rewarding after I achieved that good grade.

All these factors and events have made an extraordinary 2019. This doesn’t mean that I had a perfect year – there were obviously some sad moments too but we should cherish the happy ones as I feel that the happy moments outweigh the small sad moments.

But is there anything that I could have done to improve 2019?

  • Worry less. I feel that are certain days where I was bound to feel stressed or nervous such as before an exam. I did feel a bit nervous before an exam but that is completely fine and In Sha Allah, I will be able to manage it better in the future.

I don’t feel that I have any regrets towards this year.

2020 goals

My word of the year 2020 In Sha Allah will be: Polymath

My definition of polymath: someone who is involved or associated in many different fields – multi-skilled or multitalented.

The dictionary definition of polymath: a person of wide knowledge or learning.

I want to In Sha Allah be an even better version of myself next year and I hope you do too.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year amazing – family, friends, teachers, people who clicked onto articles and anyone who made me or others around me smile.

If you enjoyed this article as much as I loved writing it, please share it with your family and friends and encourage them to start planning for 2020. Make the next year and decade the best!

And please do remember that these are my emotions – I don’t intend to brag in any way!

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!

School Essentials Every Student Must Have https://surobiscribbles.com/school-essentials-every-student-must-have/ Sat, 16 Feb 2019 15:23:55 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=171 As a full-time student, I love studying with cute stationery, colourful notebooks and some music and I’m sure you do too. If, however, you have not found those key necessities that every student needs, I urge for you to read this article right now. In today’s article, I will be sharing with you 5 cheap school essentials that every student needs to spice up their life.

A sturdy pencilcase

The first neccesity, in my opinion, is to definitely have a sturdy pencilcase. This doesn’t need to be pricey or branded as long as it holds your supplies and stop them from getting lost. Plus, we all feel guilty when we have lost all our stationery by the first month of school so keep it in a pencilcase.

A planner

Whether it is a monthly, weekly or daily planner, have an outlet to put down all your tasks and prioritize them to get your work done quickly. You can even plan for the future or look back at your previous tasks with this notebook.

A day folder

This could be in the form of a binder or an expandable file folder where you store all your papers, letters and forms. This will hopefully help you keep organised which is the key to being a successful student. You can take this folder to school or keep it at home – the choice is yours.

A good note-taking pen

However simple this may seem, the next school essential is to have a good note-taking pen. My favourite is the Cello Pin Point Pen, which I have bought from Amazon (not sponsored). It has a thin tip which is perfect to make your handwriting look neat and gives a smooth look. It also has great pigmentation and it’s perfect for me. Experiment to your liking and find the best pen for yourself.

A good bag

This final school essential amongst many others has a big range. A good bag is vital for a student and there are many for you to choose from out there. For me, a good bag is a backpack that is stylish and has a neutral colour and also contains 3-4 compartments to store everything. For you, it could be a colourful handbag with lots of space. Do you, but make sure it is used efficiently to store all everything. I take mine to school everyday and it really does help.

That was some of my school essentials that I think every student must have. You don’t need expensive items to be successful. There is obviously so many other items that students need as well as the drive and motivation to do well. If you need motivation, I would recommend for you guys to check out this article:

What To Do When You Are Bored (On A Rainy Day) https://surobiscribbles.com/what-to-do-when-you-are-bored-on-a-rainy-day/ Fri, 02 Nov 2018 21:26:49 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=137 We have all been at that situation where we planned to go out with our friends or family on a sunny Saturday afternoon, when all of a sudden, the weather changed in one second. Rain started pouring heavily and your plans have been cancelled. What do you do now? This is where I will answer that question.

In today’s article, I will be sharing with you 10 fun and productive ideas about what to do when you are bored. These can even be applied on a sunny day. I am sure that these ideas will spice up the rest of your day!

Organize your room.

Clean and organize everything in your room to instantly feel productive and give you a fresh state of mind.

Have a relaxation/self-care day.

We all get caught up in our busy lives and some me-time is always necessary! Put on a face mask, play some soothing music in the background and wear a smile on your face.

Do some coloring.

Colouring has been a method to de-stress and escape into another world. So grab some coloring pens, take your old coloring book and start coloring.

Create some art.

Whether you love doodling, putting on a full face of makeup, applying henna to your hands or painting, they are all amazing ways to spend your time.

Play/learn an instrument that you know.

If you know how to play an instrument, play some songs and entertain yourself. If not, try learning an instrument and accomplish a new skill.

Have a coffee/hot chocolate date with a family member.

If you haven’t had the time to talk to one of your family members, then this is the perfect time to do so! Make a mug of warm coffee, sit down and bring back your old memories.

Catch up with one of your friends.

I am pretty sure that everyone has that one friend in their phone who they haven’t talked to for the past couple of weeks. If so, catch up with them and start a long conversation.

Watch a movie.

Everyone loves watching a movie or two. During these hours, you can finally watch that movie which all your friends have been talking about. Trust me, it’s worth it.

 Invite someone home.

During a rainy day, you may not want to get out of the house but someone else might. Call one of your friends home and have a nice chat with them.

Cook something new.

Everyone in this world has one recipe that they have not tried before. Get researching on the Internet for that recipe, grab your ingredients and start cooking! You even get your yummy food in the end.

These are just 10 of the fun ideas I came up with. These definitely cheers me up on any rainy day. If you enjoyed this article, and if it helps you, please share it with your family and friends. Also, check out my other articles:

How To Prioritise Your Tasks: The 5-step Method https://surobiscribbles.com/how-to-prioritise-your-tasks-the-5-step-method/ Fri, 28 Sep 2018 20:29:05 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=80 Are you that person who feels as if their tasks will never end?  Maybe it’s because you do everything last-minute,  or because you don’t plan efficiently. Prioritizing can help you to make your tasks feel more manageable. In today’s article, I will be sharing with you a quick, efficient 5-step method to prioritize your tasks.

     1) Write a to-do list for everything you have to do.

Start off by writing everything from your head in a piece of paper. From watching Season 6 of your favorite show to revising for that exam to doing all your chores, just write whatever worry or task you have to accomplish. Do not worry about how it looks or whichever order it is in.

    2) Make a key with highlighters or colored pens.

Take four different colored pens or highlighters and make a small key. For example, I can take a pink, yellow, orange and a green highlighter. Then you assign each color to a specific deadline. For instance, I make pink the deadline for ‘today’, yellow for ‘tomorrow/within a few days’, orange for ‘by end of this week’, and green for ‘2 weeks or more’. This will allow you to have a visual outline of each task deadline.

    3)    Highlight/underline each task according to its due date.

This is the most important part. You have to now prioritize and see every single task, check its deadline, and continue along the list. For me, if I have homework due tomorrow, that is definitely more important than going out shopping to buy some new pair of trainers. Go through and highlight, and you shall see everything come into place.

    4)    Write the to-do list for today.

After you have highlighted, see which are due today and tomorrow. Take a separate piece of paper and write down your to-do list for today. By your visual outline, you should easily be able to spot which tasks you have to do today and by tomorrow. This will allow you to not be overwhelmed.

   5)   Set the other tasks for future dates on a calendar.

All the other tasks should be put on a monthly calendar or a weekly calendar. This will allow you to visualize your upcoming tasks and you will feel like you have dealt with every task. You can then bin the piece of paper with all the tasks you had to do or simply keep it somewhere.

I hope this article helps you to feel a bit more organized and productive. It’s important to deal with this and know exactly what you will do before starting. Check out my other articles too:
