This was to celebrate the fact that I finished my GCSE exams and we had wanted to go to this cafe that is extremely popular!

What is Elan Cafe?

Elan Cafe is London’s most Instagrammable Hot Spot. It is a cafe that is filled with flowers and all things pink. They also sell a range of foods and drinks.

My Experience:

Firstly, my sister and I entered the cafe and since it was a Saturday, it was pretty packed. We had to wait in the queue for a good 10-15 minutes and then it took about 10-15 minutes to order. The waiters were really busy and we wanted to order. After that, we had to wait about half an hour to get the drinks and then a further 10 minutes to get the cakes.

What I Ordered And My Opinions On It:

Passion Fruit Drink

This drink was executed nicely, the appearance looked really colourful and aesthetically pleasing. I loved the flower on top. However, when it came to the taste, it was delicious with a punch of flavour but wasn’t anything new or extraordinary. Altogether, I rated this a ⅖.

Lotus Cake

Next up, we tried the Lotus Cake. This cake was the best item I tried in this cafe. It had a lotus flavour and it was very unique. I also liked the presentation even though the lotus crumbs on the top were a little messy. Since this cake was unique, I rated this a ⅘.

Classic Cake

I loved the presentation of this cake – it was elegant and beautiful. The liquid in the bottom did leak a little but that was okay. In terms of taste, this cake was very sweet so if you have a sweet tooth, this is great. But again, it was unique, so I rated this a ⅗.

The Place:

From the photos, I expected the shop to be much bigger in size but in reality, the shop wasn’t that large in size. Downstairs, there were only about 7 tables that were quite small, and my sister and I were a bit disappointed to not be given seats in front of the iconic EL&N background. There are a lot of seating areas outside though.

The Service:

As you saw in my ‘experience’ section above, my sister and I had to wait a really long time before getting our food and drinks so altogether, we were quite displeased about that. Altogether, the staff were friendly and hardworking but the service was very poor for a world-renowned cafe like this.

Would I Recommend It?

I would recommend trying this only if you want some good Instagram photos. However, even then you are not guaranteed to get a photo with the iconic EL&N background. So, overall, EL&N London is definitely overrated and I would not really recommend it overall.

My Rating: 3/5

My Rating System:

Bread And Oregano Review / Is This An Underrated Cafe? https://surobiscribbles.com/bread-and-oregano-review-is-this-an-underrated-cafe/ Sat, 12 Jun 2021 22:15:14 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1181 About halfway through my busy GCSE exams, I celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr (Thursday 13th May 2021) with my family. My sister and I went to a cafe to celebrate this small Eid and it ended up being an experience. But was the experience and food really good?

What is Bread And Oregano?

Bread and Oregano is a small cafe in Leyton, which is described to be a ‘friendly and relaxed space’.

What I Ordered And My Opinions On It:

Chocolate Cake

This cake cost £4.10. This was not freshly made so it was pretty quick to serve. It looks absolutely delicious as the chocolate is smooth on the cake. However, in terms of taste, I found it to be too sweet and I have had better cakes than this. I rated this a ⅗.

Mocha

The mocha was £2.45. This was a mocha that looked really nicely decorated, with the powder on top. It did not take too long to prepare. I rated this a 5/5, because it was delicious and warm with the perfect mix of coffee, chocolate and milk.

The Place:

The shop is beautiful as it is composed of the colour blue which made it unique. There are seating areas outside and inside and due to COVID-19, we could only sit outside. They also provided heating, which we realised afterwards. It is quite a unique experience to sit outside. When we went, there were a moderate amount of customers.

The Service:

The service on the branch I went to was good. The waiter was helpful and took the time to explain to us the menu (and beware that some food is not Halal in the shop). The waiting time was also not too long.

Would I Recommend It?

Yes, I would recommend trying this shop because it is beautiful in the interior, sells delicious mocha with a reasonable price and the experience was quite nice to sit outside with my sister and have some food. I think this is an underrated cafe.

Caffè Nero Review / One of My Favourite Cafes? https://surobiscribbles.com/caffe-nero-review-one-of-my-favourite-cafes/ Tue, 13 Apr 2021 00:06:42 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1063 For quite a long time, I and my sister wanted to try Caffè Nero. On Friday 2nd April 2021, my sister and I got the perfect chance to go to Caffè Nero to try something new from here. However, was this really worth it?

What is the Caffè Nero?

Caffè Nero is an Italian style British coffee house which is now known globally in 11 countries. They sell foods ranging from chocolates and cakes to also drinks like coffee.

What I Ordered And My Opinions On It:

  • Firstly, my sister and I ordered two ‘chai lattes’. They were around £3 each.
  • We also bought a ‘milk chocolate and stracciatella’ and a ‘dark chocolate and hazelnut.’
  • Altogether, the drinks to me were okay as even though it had the Italian taste of chai latte, I personally found the cinnamon to be quite overpowering. The chocolates were delicious, particularly the dark chocolate one, but nothing too special.
  • My sister found the drink was ‘milky and spicy’, and the chocolates were high-quality and creamy.

The Place:

The shop was in Covent Garden. It was quite small, so I would recommend doing takeaway.

Would I Recommend It?

I would recommend the shop and especially the chocolates, but I would not recommend trying the chai latte drink necessarily as it wasn’t the best. Maybe try a different drink.

My Rating: 3.7/5
