FiLLi Cafe is a cafe that is originally in Dubai and it is currently so popular in TikTok. They sell Indian food. So was this the best Indian street food I have ever tried, or is this simply overrated?

What is FiLLi Cafe?

FiLLi Cafe is a cafe that sells sandwiches, snacks and drinks. The signature item is the Zafran tea. We went to the branch in Marylebone, London.

My Experience And What I Ate:

Chicken Dynamite Pizza (£10.99)

This pizza can only be described in one word: delicious! Firstly, the pizza looked awesome with a drizzle of the orange sauce and it had a nice orange-brown colour. This pizza had a juicy texture and the flavours were outstanding. I would highly recommend this pizza and I would rate it a 5/5. However, the pizza can really fill up one person or maximum two people as the pizza was not that large in size.

Chicken Fill Z (£5.29)

Next up was the burger, which was the low of this cafe. This burger looked like a pretty standard small burger on the outside. On the inside, it was sticky and red inside with little flavours and the bread was just standard. Overall, this was underwhelming so I would rate this a 2/5 and I would not recommend this.

Manchurian Foodles (£6.99)

However, do not fret, because this was one of the most unique dishes I have tried and gosh, it was amazing! It was a 5/5 because this dish had an egg on top which melted like honey and on the inside, the noodles were packed with spice and flavour, which was nicely washed down with the Zafran tea I had separately It was in this small container and the portion size was good too. Absolutely fantastic dish!

Medium Iced Spiced Zafran Chai Lemonade (£4.99)

This chai lemonade was brilliant! Firstly I have to appreciate the most unique packaging of this drink. To open this drink felt like a new experience because the drink was in a ziplock bag and I had to weave the straw through the hole and drink this. This tea has a nice yellow colour and it was so sweet, cold and soothing. It was the perfect way to cool down the spice from the savoury foods. Would give this another 5/5 because of its unicity and originality!

What did I like about FiLLi Cafe?

  • This cafe was definitely very unique. You had to go up a flight of stairs and there were well lit smaller sofas on the sides where you could look down on the windows, where my sister and I decided to sit. There were also tables on the middle for bigger families and gatherings.
  • It was well lit and it was orange and black in colour.
  • The staff were a bit tired and unbothered and the waiting times were a bit long, but they still provided great food, which is what I needed so I cannot complain!

What didn’t I like about FiLLi Cafe?

  • As I said, the staff and the service was a bit slow, especially as we went at lunchtime. Otherwise, there was nothing wrong with the cafe!

Would I Recommend It?

I would recommend this cafe 100% as it really brought out some new Indian food, different from the previous afternoon teas I have tried. I just recommend not taking the burger but apart from that, all the other items were great and filling! Also, it was very modern and the environment and atmosphere was nice for me and my sister to have our girly chats.

My Rating: 5/5

The London Wonderground and Baegel / The Best Funfair In London?  https://surobiscribbles.com/the-london-wonderground-and-baegel-the-best-funfair-in-london/ Sat, 13 Aug 2022 10:29:29 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1578 Funfairs are one of the things that make London really fun. They bring a diverse range of people from all walks of life. So, last year, I went to the London Wonderground and I thought I would share my opinions on this funfair.

What is London Wonderground?

The London Wonderground is a funfair in London that is famous for its street food and activities.

What happened in London Wonderground?

My sister and I went to the London Wonderground. On the day, it was very empty and there were barely any people. This made me and my sister realise the importance of having a busy funfair to bring out the summer vibes. We went to look at the sand, got some candy and also later had food in Baegel. Overall, because the funfair was pretty empty, the weather was not too sunny and the rides were pretty standard, I didn’t find this funfair to be that fun. Due to the reasons above, I rated this funfair a ⅖.  It is better to come on a day where it is sunny and come along with family and friends! But don’t stop here, read below!

Baegel:

What is Baegel?

Baegel was a food stall in the London Wonderground where my sister and I tried some burgers!

What I Ordered And My Opinions On It:

Bae N Fried Chicken Burger (£8.50)

This burger was one of the best burgers I tried! Since the funfair was empty, the queue was very short but the man took very long to make the burgers. It was executed how I wanted it to be executed. In terms of appearance and so large in size. It would fill you up. Overall, the taste was absolutely amazing! The sauce, the chicken and the halloumi made this burger spectacular and really brought out all the flavours. I really enjoyed having this burger. I know the burger is quite pricey but since it is in a funfair and it was large, I would still try it again in another funfair.

The Place:

The shop was a stall with one man making and serving the burgers in the London Wonderground funfair. There are seating areas available in the funfair, so my sister and I sat on the benches and ate the food!

The Service:

As I mentioned already, it did take a pretty long time to get the burgers, but watch out if there is a long queue.

Would I Recommend It?

Overall, I rated the food from Baegel a ⅘. I totally think everyone who sees a Baegel should try this burger but it isn’t the cheapest burger out there, so I could not rate it a 5 on this occasion.

My Rating: 4/5

My Rating System:

⅕ – was below average and would not recommend even trying once

⅖ – the food was average and would not recommend trying

⅗ – the food was delicious but would recommend trying maximum once

⅘ – the food was really good and would recommend trying here

5/5 – the food was outstanding and is one of my favorites!

Villa Lebanese / Try This Food Now! https://surobiscribbles.com/villa-lebanese-try-this-food-now/ Fri, 26 Feb 2021 16:36:10 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=987
My ‘Mixed Shawarma Platter’ from Villa Lebanese

This is one of my articles on my series of ‘Restaurant Reviews’. In this series, I review some of the restaurants, takeaways and food chains, either from UberEats or I go to the actual place.

On Sunday 21st February 2020, my sister and I ordered from Villa Lebanese through UberEats. We ordered an array of foods. Was it worth the money?

What is Villa Lebanese?

Villa Lebaneseis a Lebanese restaurant in Walthamstow. It sells foods such as shawarma, wraps and more.

What I Ordered And My Opinions On It:

  • Firstly, I ordered a ‘Mixed Shawarma Platter.’ I chose a side of ‘Tabbouleh’, free of charge. I really loved the plating of this – it was like a school lunchbox as shown in the photo above. This was absolutely delicious! The shawarma (chicken and lamb) was nice and warm (quite oily though), the tabbouleh was so unique and tasty and the houmous was very creamy. This is a must try!
  • My sister ordered a ‘Mixed Shawarma’. This contained shawarma (chicken and lamb), chips and a normal salad. My sister quoted it as ‘healthy and fresh’. The salad, according to her, was very different and altogether, it was a 4.5/5.
  • With a 25% off discount and including the delivery and service fee, the total came to £20.90.

The Service:

UberEats took about 30-45 minutes to deliver the food to our house. This was an average amount of time to arrive.

Would I Recommend It?

I would highly recommend this place as the shawarma was very different, and the tabbouleh and hummus for me was very good. If you don’t like oily food, then don’t try the shawarma and it was a bit pricey but I would still recommend it.

My Rating: 4.2/5

Food from ‘Maxi Grill Walthamstow’

This is one of my articles on my series of ‘Restaurant Reviews’. In this series, I review some of the restaurants, takeaways and food chains, either from UberEats or I go to the actual place.

On Saturday 13th February 2020, my sister and I ordered from Maxi Grill Walthamstow through UberEats. We ordered an array of foods. Was it worth the money?

What is Maxi Grill Walthamstow?

Maxi Grill Walthamstow is a fast food restaurant in Walthamstow. It sells foods such as burgers, chicken, wings, and pizzas.

What I Ordered And My Opinions On It:

  • Firstly, I ordered a ‘Combinado Peri Peri Burger Meal.’ This burger has peri peri chicken fillet, peri peri lam patty, and 2 slice cheese with a can of drink and chips. There was a wide selection to make your one personalised burger so I got a burger with ‘sweetcorn salad’ and ‘black olives salad’, ‘burger sauce’ and the spice level was Hot. This burger was one of the best burgers I had as it had a burst of flavour and the spice kicked in.
  • My sister ordered a ‘Combinado Burger Meal’ too. She chose to have a burger with ‘jalapeno pepper salad’ and ‘fresh tomato salad’, ‘burger sauce’ and the spice level was Hot. My sister quoted this burger to be ‘juicy, spicy and unique’.
  • We also ordered ‘6 Hot and Spicy Wings’ which were normal but had quite a spice in it.
  • We also ordered ‘Half Peri Peri Chicken Meal’. I found the grilled chicken to be pretty good.
  • With a 50% off discount and including the delivery and service fee, the total came to £19.87.

The Service:

UberEats took about 30-45 minutes to deliver the food to our house. This was an average amount of time to arrive.

Would I Recommend It?

I would recommend this place as the burgers were quite unique. If you are not very spice tolerant, then I would not recommend taking Hot, ensure to take mild.

My Rating: 3.9/5

Burger and fries in Five Lads

This is one of my articles on my series of ‘Restaurant Reviews’. In this series, I review some of the restaurants, takeaways and food chains, either from UberEats or I go to the actual place.

Around the beginning of 2019, I went to Five Lads with my friends. It was a very new experience and I really enjoyed going out with them. In this article, I will be sharing my review of going to Five Lads about 2 years ago.

What is Five Lads?

Five Lads is a chicken restaurant which sells a wide range of foods such as burgers, pittas and chicken. They are quite inspired by ‘Five Guys’. I went to the Leyton branch.

What I Ordered And My Opinions On It:

  • I ordered a chicken breast fillet on a burger with a side and a drink.
  • The flavour was ‘medium’ and the side was chips with a drink.
  • Altogether, it was quite delicious and it cost £6.99.

The Service:

The day we went, I remember it being quite crowded. I remember that my friend and I had to go to shopkeepers to ask about the place. I would have preferred them to order at the table. They took a reasonable amount of time to come.

The Place:

The place was pretty clean with nice colours and decor. However, it was a bit small and a bit dark.

Would I Recommend It?

I would recommend this place because overall, it is quite good to have a meal with your friends. However, it is also not extraordinary.

My Rating: 3.7/5

  • The ‘Canary Wharf’ burger contains 6 ounce beef pattie, mayo, red onions, lettuce, cheddar cheese, pulled beef, topped with horseradish sauce and ketchup in a brioche bun. This cost £9.95. This was a pretty good burger and I would rate it a 3.4 / 5.
  • The ‘Shard’ burger contains 6 ounce beef pattie, mustard, and ketchup split beef sausages, two chicken rashers, egg, American cheese, fried onions, fried tomatoes sandwich in a creamy brioche bun. This cost £9.95. This was an amazing burger and I would rate it a ⅘.

Would I Recommend It?

I would highly recommend this place as the names of the burgers are quite unique, the food looks pretty good and the burgers tasted quite delicious. These were quite different from the average burger and contained a lot of food inside. It may be a bit costly to pay £10 for one burger so just try at least once!

My Rating: 3.8/5

Nando’s Restaurant: Is This Place Overrated? https://surobiscribbles.com/nandos-restaurant-is-this-place-overrated/ Sun, 01 Nov 2020 15:33:07 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=870 On Friday 30th October 2020, my sister and I went to Nando’s for a celebration. I had been to Nando’s before but I thought that in this article, I would be sharing my experience on that specific day.

What is Nando’s?

Nando’s is a well-known South African restaurant chain that specialises in Portugese-African food, including its signature flame-grilled peri-peri style chicken. The branch that I went to was the Walthamstow branch.

What I Ordered And My Opinions On It:

  • My sister and I shared a ‘Boneless Platter’ which cost £21.20. This platter contained 1 Chicken Butterfly, 4 Boneless Chicken Thighs and 4 regular sides. The sides that I and my sister picked were peri peri chips, spicy rice, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob, all in medium spice. Altogether, the platter was quite delicious but it may have been a bit less for two people.
  • We also took a burger each. I took the medium spiced grilled chicken burger while my sister took the hot grilled chicken burger. Altogether, this cost £11.80. The burger was quite big and pretty good.
  • Lastly, we both took two desserts each. We had the ‘Salted Caramel Brownie’ and ‘Dark Chocolate Gelado’. The brownie was £2.40 and the Gelado was £2.80. The desserts were a perfect chocolate combo so I would recommend it.

The Service:

The service was pretty good in general, as the staff came when needed. I liked the system of scanning the code and it helped in social distancing. However, I and my sister had ordered a ‘Choc-a-Lot Cake’ and we waited for about 20-25 minutes only to find out after calling one of the staff that they ran out of the cake. They gave us a refund but it made us a bit upset for having to wait so long.

The Place:

The place was pretty clean with nice colours and decor. It was quite spacious and very big. This store was pretty crowded when we went as it was around lunch-time.

Would I Recommend It?

Nando’s is a good eating place, where there are pretty delicious food and space. It may be a bit pricey and a bit over-rated for some people, but otherwise, it is pretty good.

My Rating: 3.9/5

This was my short review or diary entry about Nando’s. These are my opinions about this place. Make sure to check out my other restaurant reviews.
