Assalamu alaikum, fellow Muslims and non-Muslims.

We may all know the importance of the Qur’an, the Holy Book written by Allah (SWT). However, we may not necessarily follow the teachings of the Qur’an and follow the role models that were sent to the Earth to spread the word of Islam. In order to remind you of the important lessons taught by each of the significant prophets mentioned in the Qur’an, I will In Sha Allah, be starting a prophets series. This will contain lessons I learnt from each of the prophets.

This Ramadan, we shall start with the first Prophet and the first man created, Adam (pbuh). If you would like to know the story, sources are available below. If I also make any mistakes, I apologise and Allah (SWT) knows the best.

Allah created everything in this universe, including humans.

Allah owns everything in this world and He deserves to be the only One who is worshipped.

Angels have no free will and are obedient to Allah (SWT)

When Allah wanted to make a human, He ordered the angels to collect clay for Him.

Men are impatient.

When Allah breathed the spirit into Adam (pbuh), he wanted to explore heaven and then he fell. Allah said men are impatient.

Arrogance is a sin which can eliminate your good deeds.

Iblis did not prostrate towards Adam when Allah commanded him to do so, only due to arrogance.

Shaytan / Iblis is the greatest enemy of Allah.

If anyone follows Shaytan, they will go to Hellfire and the Quran is there to guide us. Shaytan wants to mislead the humans as only due to humans, did he become evil.

Angels are the symbol of good.

They always worship Allah, and never get tired from it

Shaytan is a symbol of evil.

He will always try to mislead humans and commit evil acts, which is the cause of going to Hell.

Humans are symbols of knowledge as Adam (pbuh) was taught by Allah.

Adam (pbuh) had special knowledge about everything as Allah taught him the names of everything. He was respected by the angels except for Iblis.

Eve’s name is Eve because she was made from something living (Adam’s left rib).

Adam said this to an angel.

Humans are forgetful.

Humans tend to forget and that is why Adam and Eve (pbut) ate the apple from the forbidden tree.

Friday is a special day.

Adam and Eve (pbut) set foot on Earth on Friday and Adam was also created on Friday.

You will need to face struggles and conflict on Earth but pray to Allah and don’t lose hope.

Adam (pbuh) knew that on Earth he would have to face the struggles of spirits, clothes, weapons.

Refusing Allah’s order is sinful.

Cain refused to marry his other twin sister when commanded by Allah (SWT).

Arrogance of Cain led to murder and the first burial.

Cain killing Abel was the first murder and criminal act on Earth. He also buried Abel which was the first burial.

Death is by Allah’s will

When Adam (pbuh) was about to die, he promised that more prophets will come calling for Islam. Allah commanded the Angel of Death to take his soul away.

These were some of the lessons that I captured from Adam (pbuh). The story of Adam (pbuh) is beautifully said in this Youtube video and book which I used to create this article:

Please share this article with your family and friends to get some rewards this Ramadan. In Sha Allah you will stay well.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!
