I hope that everyone is well. In today’s article I will be sharing 23 highlights of 2023 which will be a way of documenting this fabulous year as well as share some lessons that you can take with you in 2024 In Sha Allah!

DISCLAIMER: Of course, these are just highlights of my life, there were times of sadness and/or stress at different times throughout the year, which I did not mention in this article. Please do not compare yourself to me or to anyone else.

I hope that this helps you all out or you find it somewhat informative!

  1. January – I started the year off strong by doing my interview for the medical school I now go to – BSMS! Little did that girl know that she would now be attending the same medical school she interviewed at Alhamdulillah!

2. January – I also attended my sister’s graduation (Masha Allah Allahumma Barik to her). This was a spectacular moment for me and my family as my siblings and I are first generation university students. The lesson that you can take away from this is to be the change in your family and be the leader. Do not wait for your siblings or your parents to change, be embodied as your best version of yourself and they will surely follow you if they choose to.

3. January – I also started my Medium blog! This was a way for me to build an audience and see what types of blogs people are interested in. Now that I am writing this in December 2023, I am now at 179 followers on Medium at the time of writing and I even got monetised on my blogs. However, my Medium blog is not that active, so my lesson to you is that it is okay to start something that makes you happy long term and then give it up later if it no longer aligns with you.

4. February – this was a huge month for me in my life. I peaked in my religious journey and my Imaan and I made a really big decision for myself in my faith and this helped me to accelerate in my growth and my relationship with Allah (swt). I am so proud of myself for taking that decision! The lessons that were reiterated for me from this is that Allah is the best of planners because initially, I wanted to delay in taking a decision on this, but I then took the leap and with Allah’s help, I decided. Secondly, it taught me that when you give up something for the sake of Allah, He will always make it easier for you!

5. March – I remember having a good time with my sister by going to one of my favourite cafes – Filli Cafe! On the same day, I went to the London Central Mosque which is a very beautiful mosque. I also got the opportunity to volunteer for this charity ‘Action For Humanity’ where I had the opportunity to meet Mohammed Hijab (a quite famous Muslim influencer) at an event. Another cute event I remember is going to this girls’ Iftar event with some of my sixth form friends as Ramadan had begun. Staying committed to my faith while doing my A Levels is one of the things that kept me going.

6. March – I received my conditional offer from BSMS Alhamdulillah and I remember shaking while telling my sister over the phone. Due to this news, I had the Federation of my sixth form email me to take photos of me in Central London as I was one of six Medicine offer-holders amongst around 23 sixth forms in the Federation Alhamdulillah! I did not go to have my photo taken despite feeling tempted, because I wanted to only tell everyone of the success after I had gotten into medical school. My sister also had so much faith that she told me that if I got into Medicine with an unconditional offer, she would have photos of me taken in August. This taught me that good things take time, and when you receive the fruits of your hard work, it tastes even sweeter!

7. April – this was a very busy month for me! I remember going to the library quite frequently and I was studying for my upcoming A Level exams. Ramadan had also ended so it was great to celebrate Eid where I went to some family friends’ houses with my mother. Sometimes, you just have to appreciate the silent and boring work that is making you progress.

8. May – There were more library sessions here and I got closer to the Quran. Sometimes answers for my problems in life would appear in the Quran. As exams were approaching, I spent more time studying and for breaks, I would go on walks and connect with nature – scientifically, spending time in nature makes you happier!

9. June – this was the month of exams and stress. All my exams that culminated my 2 years of gruelling, hard work spanned over a period of three intense weeks. I had two exams in the first week, three exams in the second week and FOUR exams in the last week. My first exam was the Pure Maths and Mechanics Paper 1 and my last exam was my Chemistry Paper 3. Alhamdulillah, I still managed to complete all my exams which I was incredibly grateful for. The lesson here is that you must praise Allah for all that He gets you through.

10. June – after completing my exams and finishing sixth form (which was somewhat emotional), I started my holidays! I started my first ever TikTok account which I post on even today. I travelled to places in London and went on a cruise, tried a new drink and even had pizza in the Outlet Shopping Centre at the O2. Make sure you always diversify your identity and not just base it upon one thing solely.

11. June – another pinch-me moment is that I went to visit BSMS with my mother, not knowing that I am now writing this as a current medical student in that university. Fun fact: one of the staff members that gave me the tour of the medical school building that month still recognised me when I came in September as a student. Make sure you talk to as many people as possible and ask them questions when you go to an open day!

12. June – We also celebrated Eid-ul-Adha and my sister and I went to Dil Pasand Restaurant! I have posted a TikTok on my review of this place, which you can check out below. Documenting memories can be absolutely great!

13. July – July is always a special month for me because it is my birthday month! In this specific month, I went to many places such as Green Street, Primrose Hill, St James Park and the Garden at 120. I also tried new eating places such as Indulgence and Akaya Lounge for my birthday. I enjoyed doing some solo travelling around places in London (again many of the places I went to are on my TikTok). Learn to enjoy solo travelling – you get to learn a lot!

14. August – I passed my theory test for driving a car the first time Alhamdulillah. It feels amazing to be well-rounded in every aspect of my life.

15. August – Results Day was just around the corner so as I was preparing for that, I continued going to new places and documenting them along the way. I went to a hidden beach in London known as Ruislip Lido Beach and I also went to Chelmsford. When Results Day finally arrived, AHH! I got into Medicine and I even secured two other university offers Alhamdulillah! Being a first-generation university student who had dreamed of doing Medicine for a very long time, this was truly very exciting for me! I enrolled to BSMS and also secured my accommodation. I got gifts from my family members, Alhamdulillah. My mother, sister and I also went to Grand Rasoi Restaurant.

16. August – I started my YouTube channel! My YouTube channel was made to help Muslim girls to become high value. It is now a place where I film videos to help you grow academically, emotionally and spiritually!

17. September – As I was preparing for medical school, I continued… you guessed it… travelling! I spent time with my family and packed to move out for medical school. My sister and I went to one of the most expensive restaurants we have ever been to celebrate the fact that I got into medical school which was Coco Canary Wharf, where I had some delicious steak and it was very luxurious Subhanallah!

18. September –  I then moved into my accommodation for medical school near the end of the month. I made some new friends, went to new places and had some fun in Freshers’ week! More details are on my blog linked here.

19. October – I was in medical school, going to lectures, doing my chores and habits and also having fun in a way that makes me happy long term! Some highlights were going to the ‘Sip and Paint’ session for the sisters in Islamic Society, going to Afters with my mother and brother and receiving my first DM on TikTok of someone appreciating my TikTok content.

20. October – I also wrote and submitted my first ever academic skills essay for university which was formative, but it gave me some insight into how independent uni life is. I would also commute roughly every two weeks to go back to London to visit my family home for the weekends which was a great balance!

21. November – Again, the workload in medical school started increasing as it was slowly approaching near the end of the end term. I went out with one of my friends in London from sixth form and I also had another highlight this month – the Islamic Society Charity Auction Dinner! This was incredibly useful since Palestine has been going through so many hardships – may Allah make it easy for them!! I also went ice skating for the first time – don’t be afraid to do new things but only if they make you happy long term!

22. November – I passed my first ever essay and presentation for medical school Alhamdulillah! Remember that if you were given a place in the institution, you are capable of doing well in that place and you deserve your place!

23. December – December has been one of my favourite months! I got a scholarship from Zero Gravity unexpectedly which I was very happy about. I have truly manifested many things but one great achievement was manifesting going on an aeroplane after ten years! I managed to achieve that and I went to Dublin for five days with my mother. This was after I had completed my first ever medical school term. ALHAMDULILLAH! I have also been having so much fun this past week visiting relatives and family friends, and even going to Central London to see the pretty winter lights.

I AM BEYOND GRATEFUL FOR 2023!! It has been one of the best years of my life and I believe it is always about to get better and better! I praise Allah for all the blessings, wisdom and opportunities I have received! Thank you to everyone who I have met along the journey of life! I am looking forward to 2024 In Sha Allah 😀

I hope that you have enjoyed reading this article as much as I have enjoyed reading it! 2024 is my year of abundance and prosperity In Sha Allah! Happy New Year!

My First Term of Medical School | Exams, Essays and Events  https://surobiscribbles.com/my-first-term-of-medical-school-exams-essays-and-events/ Wed, 27 Dec 2023 15:51:59 +0000 https://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1950 Hello everyone or Assalamu Alaikum! I hope you are all well. As someone who has just finished my first term of medical school, I thought that I would share some highlights of my first term of medical school – how it went, some highlights and some tips for all of you who will be going to university in the future!

Academia and Workload

Let’s start with the workload – from my previous article, there has been quite a drastic change. After the first month of medical school, the work ramped up quite a lot and there was actually quite a lot to do! Having 5 lectures in one day means that sometimes you cannot finish all the notes of that day and so then, the work is transferred to the next day. This work eventually piles up, so it is inevitable to fall behind in medical school. Of course, there are 10% of people who do not fall behind, but if you want to go to societies and work on other side projects (like me), then it can be hard to stay on top of work all the time.

I completed one academic skills essay and one academic skills presentation and Alhamdulillah, I passed both of them. They were formative and a chance for us to get a feel of how university assessments are like. There is much more limited help than school, but remember that if you were chosen to be there, you are capable of passing!

  1. It is normal to fall behind in university. Try to track all your lectures and stay on top of it, as that will reduce your stress.
  2. You are capable of getting through university and medical school if you were able to get in!

Societies/Gym

In my last article, I talked about Islamic Society and how it is one of the societies I regularly attend. However, Alhamdulillah, this time I am happy to say that I managed to attend other society events such as IndiaSoc, African And Caribbean Society and British Sign Language Society. I hope that next term, I can participate in an even wider range of societies.

Additionally, I also went to the gym and it is something I love to do! Gymming makes me feel empowered and that I am really improving myself and I hope to carry this on next term and increase the frequency of my gym sessions.

Friendships and Flatmates

Now, this is where we get to some drama – in the last article, I talked about how I really enjoyed hanging out with my friends and how I have the best flat. Now firstly, yes, I do have some good friends, Alhamdulillah. But if there is one thing I have known from my many years of having many different types of friendships, it is that I wait to see people’s true colours. Never get attached to people and never think that people owe you anything. This is crucial and I remember someone telling me that you should wait until December to see people’s true colours. This is not to say that everyone is secretly mean/has bad intentions, it is just to warn you to protect your energy against those who do not align with you.

Secondly, in terms of flatmates, one thing that I learnt is that going back to people’s true colours coming out later, it is important to know your boundaries. Every flat has a different issue, so if there is something that your flatmates are doing that is concerning you, you have every right to speak up. Let them know. Also, think about how you can keep improving yourself because, ultimately, you can only change yourself. However, ALWAYS stick to your boundaries and your values regardless of the situation.

My Brand

My brand is something very important to me as I want to document my journey along the way. I have been posting TikToks as regularly as possible and I have recently hit 100 followers on TikTok. I also started posting live study with me videos on my YouTube channel which you can check out. My First Month of Medical School | Moving Out, Freshers And Workload https://surobiscribbles.com/my-first-month-of-medical-school-moving-out-freshers-and-workload/ Tue, 14 Nov 2023 17:00:35 +0000 https://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1895 Hello everyone or Assalamu Alaikum! It has been a long time since I made a blog post because I have been at medical school! It has been a dream to go to medical school and it has finally been accomplished Alhamdulillah!!

I wanted to write a diary entry of some of the highlights of my first month of medical school.

Moving Out

This was the first time I moved out as an 18 year old. The day I moved out, it was quite cool and I remember getting all my stuff and heading out for a long road trip. I was happy to see my room and the kitchen, which were both super clean and spacious. I have so many tips for moving out for the first time which I will make a blog post on in the future In Sha Allah. Realise that this is something new but within a few days, you will have some new friends and a new room you call home.

Freshers Week

Here is a hot take: so many people believe that you need to go clubbing or have alcohol to have fun in freshers or to get the full freshers experience. But that is not true!! I did not go clubbing once ever since I started medical school nor have I ever drank alcohol and I don’t plan to go clubbing, drink alcohol or do any of that forever! For all the Muslims out there, do not feel peer pressured. I made the most of my Freshers week by attending other events. For example, I went to the non alcoholic events such as the Beach BBQ, coffee morning, golf and even chatted to my flat mates! There were also many Islamic society events taking place in my university. You do not need to go to any Haram place to make friends because the right friends will come to you regardless! Freshers week was amazing for me and I felt do happy to talk to new people, explore the city and take some nice photos and videos! Please do take photos because you want to remember these moments. In Sha Allah, I will make another blog post about how to make the most of Freshers Week as a Muslim.

Academic Workload

This is where I get to spill the tea: is medicine really that hard? The answer is yes and no. I find the content really interesting as it makes me feel grateful that Allah has given us human bodies that work miraculously and has gifted the intelligence to humans to be able to explore this. There are such a wide variety of topics to focus on in Medicine and you can never get bored! That can also be a negative because you are so busy that you can get behind in lectures really quickly! I have had over 40 lectures already! I have even submitted my first essay! However, I have learnt that seeking support from other medical students both in your year and other years can be helpful. Also, whenever you feel stressed, remember that you are literally fulfilling a dream that you worked so hard for. I love the independence that Medicine gives me and it is one of the things that make me want to wake up every day Alhamdulillah.

Societies

Societies are one of the things I was most looking forward to for medical school. I love that you get to dive into different hobbies and skills and either learn something new or revisit an old passion. One of the societies that I will rave on about is Islamic Society. The Islamic Society in my medical school is absolutely amazing! They hold regular events, there are many brothers and sisters who help each other and they incorporate Islam into it. I went bowling for the first time through this society, we had a sip and paint and overall, it had been great! I also became the first year representative for the Ophthalmology society Alhamdulillah!

Extracurriculars

We all know that I love to do things outside of academia! So here I will talk about other things I have done. I have been by posting on my TikTok and YouTube as regularly as possible. This is alongside maintaining my chores such as laundry and shopping. Adjusting can be hard at first and there can be homesickness so I have not posted a lot. You need to find a good routine that works for you. I aim to increase the amount of content I post over the coming weeks In Sha Allah.

Friendships

The last segment of this article is friendships! Alhamdulillah as the years have increased, I find that I get more mature friends that are more similar to me. I get on well with my flatmates and even other people have said that we have the best flat! I do have more female friends over male friends and I also have a variety of friendship groups rather than sticking to one, which is fabulous! I hope that these friendships grow even further In Sha Allah!

That was my article on some of the many highlights of my first month at medical school. I hope that In Sha Allah you gained some insight into how life is at medical school. Let me know if you have any suggestions for future articles.

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!

Ten Tips on How To Get Into UK Medical School The First Time https://surobiscribbles.com/ten-tips-on-how-to-get-into-uk-medical-school-the-first-time/ Wed, 23 Aug 2023 10:12:17 +0000 https://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1879 Medicine…the dream that many students want to achieve. The long hours of studying, talking to patients and being in the hospital are one of the wishes of many students in sixth form or even secondary school. With a small acceptance rate of around 15% in the UK, competition is fierce which leaves many students asking: ‘How to get into medical school’, ‘how to get all A*s’ or even ‘how to stand out as a medical school applicant’ When you don’t have much support around you and many limiting beliefs to overcome, it can seem like the light at the end of the tunnel is far away.

Alhamdulillah, despite all the struggles of being the first person applying for Medicine in my family and also not getting much support from my sixth form, including financial issues, I still managed to get into Medicine the first time. It would not have been possible without Allah’s help and everything that Allah has provided for me.

I feel that it is my job to help you one-to-one on how to get into Medicine in the UK and give you that help that no doubt many of your peers in more privileged backgrounds are receiving. I am talking to my Muslim/ethnic minority/state school/unsupported students who desperately need that one person to tell them that they can do it. You are not too weak to do Medicine, you are exactly what Medicine needs.

Here is to the start of a journey to help as many of my brothers and sisters as possible to get into Medicine and to start you off, I have ten tips that really helped me along the way.

For each tip, I hope to make a future blog post on the topic to assist you further so stay tuned and subscribe here to never miss a blog: Get My Blog On Your Emails For Free

Make an intention that you will look to see if Medicine is the right pathway for you

If you are currently in Year 11/Year 12, this is the perfect time for you to be starting to think about Medicine and whether you want to pursue this degree. I understand that you have many humps in the road and you may not always be 100% certain you want to do this degree, however, even if you feel a slight desire to explore this career, start looking into this degree and career. Have an intention that you will experiment carefully, and if you don’t feel it is the right career for you, you will quit or go on to pursue something else. This is essential as many people are too lazy or even afraid to tap into different opportunities or believe that they are not good enough to do Medicine. In reality, it is just about opening new doors and seeing which one aligns with you. It is not compulsory for you to apply to Medicine even if you attend all the medical lectures or do work experience.

Once you have made that decision you want to apply to Medicine, however, have a strong why and intention for why you want to do this degree and career. This will keep you going.

Find work experience and volunteering opportunities

I know it can be extremely difficult and painful at times, but trust me and listen to me…keep trying to find those opportunities! I will be discussing in my future posts how I got into work experience and also found two volunteering opportunities in busy London in future posts. But realise that a) it is not compulsory for most medical schools to do work experience in a hospital placement, and b) it is about quality, not quantity. The key is to reflect on every day that you volunteer or shadow someone because it is all about asking questions and learning the soft skills that are needed in a healthcare setting such as empathy and courage.

Use the resources available

When you come from a state sixth form that does not know much about helping medical school applicants, you may feel that you are completely alone and you don’t have any resources. Some fall into the trap of thinking that you have to pay thousands of pounds for expensive courses to get into medicine. However, this could not be further from the truth. During Year 12, you should try to go online and ask your teachers, medical students or even people in Year 13 who have applied to Medicine on how to get in. Most of the resources are free, and if used the right way, are enough to get you into Medicine.

Have a growth mindset and take others’ advice with a pinch of salt

This is the main thing I want to help students do and what no one really focuses on. And that is the mindset. Many students have the potential to get into Medicine, yet they do not get in simply because of their limiting beliefs. They believe that ‘how can someone possibly jump from a C to an A?’ ‘How can someone who doesn’t have any help get into Medicine?’ or ‘How can someone from this sixth form get into Medicine?’ I don’t blame you for all these myths you have planted in your mind, yet you have the power to change these beliefs. Just because you are getting Cs right now does not mean that you can’t do Medicine. Just because your family is struggling financially does not mean that you can’t afford to do a medical degree in the UK. Listen to people who are like you and have gotten into Medicine and take everyone’s advice with a pinch of salt, because ultimately you decide what to believe in.

Time management is key

One of the things that I personally struggled with (and again what many people do not acknowledge) is how to manage your time effectively. It can be challenging enough to do 3-4 hard A Levels and on top of that, you have to do all this preparation for medicine. Additionally, you are doing it for the first time and you are just a beginner in applying! The best way to manage this is to be aware of your time. Many students in Year 12 make the mistake of attending too many programmes and lectures for Medicine but fail to actually spend time studying for their grades. I understand that it may be more fun and relaxing to just watch a medical lecture rather than do the hardcore A-Level revision, but you need to have a balance of both. I have piled up many tips for time management which I will be sharing in my future blog posts.

Prepare for the UCAT and BMAT

These two tests are one of the hardest aspects of the medical school application and it is one where you are usually provided with the least support. There are many courses trying to convince you to buy courses or go for expensive masterclasses, but it is all about picking the right resources, working smartly and being consistent in your revision.

Know the ways of coping with stress

Many YouTubers and content creators may forget when giving advice that it is not only about working x number of hours a day, it is also about having to deal with your personal life and just general stress. However, if you can master the art of learning how to deal with stress, this will not only help with being a doctor but also in your personal life when going through other problems. Whether it is talking to someone, journaling or even going for a walk, try to find the right ways that relieve your stress but also make you happy long term.

Prepare for interviews

Unfortunately, many medical schools give out interviews with very little notice, hence it is one of the aspects of the medical school application that applicants prepare for the least. Again, many people may have support with this if they come from a family of doctors or have many mock interviews from school, but if you don’t have that support (like me!), there are some strategies you can use to ace your interviews. Interviews have now become one of my favourite parts of applying to Medicine!

Use exam questions effectively

I remember being told this piece of advice when I was starting Year 12, and I get it – it’s not easy to do exam questions at times when you haven’t learnt the content. However, you can definitely do it and it is one of the things I would recommend you start doing from the beginning of the year to really get the top grades in your A Levels.

Be your own best friend – trust your gut and have family and friends

One of the things that I definitely could not be more grateful for is all the support I received. Now, I know some of you may be thinking ‘What support? You just said your sixth form did not support you?’ Yes, they did not support me as much. However, I had emotional support from others around me. I am extremely grateful first and foremost to Allah, who has granted me all these blessings, victory, light and guidance. I am definitely extremely grateful for my parents who provided me the best care since birth and continue to support me in my journey. They are the immigrants who have worked hard to get from rural Bangladesh to Italy all the way to London for my education and to simply give me the best quality of life that they could not receive. They really risked their own lives for me. So, thank you, my mum and dad!

I also had support from my siblings who also helped me the best they could, and comforted me at times of need. And lastly, my friends in school and those few teachers who really believed in me when the rest doubted me – thank you!

So, remember to seek support when you need it. Never miss your Salah and always trust your gut on what to do next!

Those were all my tips on how to get into medical school in the UK the first time around!

How To Become ‘That Girl’ https://surobiscribbles.com/how-to-become-that-girl/ Thu, 10 Aug 2023 19:55:49 +0000 https://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1872 Hello everyone! Have you heard of the ‘that girl’ trend? ‘That girl’ is used to describe a girl who is living her best life and is balanced in all areas of her life. She has a good morning and night routine, she is on top of her schoolwork/career and she has time for self-care. But how do you become that girl?

Well, I am here to spill the tea on how to become that girl because I truly believe it is quite simple and if you really have the intention to be that girl and still end this summer on a great note, you can become that girl!

Note: the tips in this article can also be used for boys!

The Benefits of Being ‘That Girl’

The benefits of being ‘that girl’ is:

  1. You live a more fulfilling life as you are embodying that high-value version of yourself that always makes you happy long term
  2. You become more confident in yourself as you realise your potential and how you can do many things in one day.
  3. You are considered to be more attractive as people wonder how you do it all.

The Ultimate Key To Become ‘That Girl’

The key is to have some habits and non-negotiable in your life but also allow some flexibility in your schedule.

Having Habits And Systems

Here is how it works: start with having a habit tracker, where you will write some non-negotiable habits in your life that you will do without fail. This ensures that you are prioritising yourself and you are not feeling too overwhelmed with your life with too much flow. This provides structure to your life. Examples of these habits include meditation, journaling or waking up early.

Having Flexibility

However, you also need to allow things to fit into your schedule which can change depending on the circumstances. The key is to follow your gut and make the right decision. If you have two hours free one evening, what would you do? Would you be like your lazy self just scrolling through social media? Or would you be like your high-value self and go out to a coffee shop and learn to be comfortable solo travelling?

Fill your schedule with more activities. This can include hobbies (I will be making an article about hobbies very soon), events and programmes (to meet new people and expand your knowledge) and even self-development/self-care (such as reading a book alone in a coffee shop). Always embody your high-value version of yourself.

Get Back Up

Some days, you will feel exhausted or feel negative emotions. You don’t need to be exhausted to be ‘that girl’, you can just keep following your gut. Love and accept your emotions but do not follow the negative emotions and do not do the actions that will not make you happy long term.

To be ‘that girl’, it takes consistency. Don’t sabotage yourself for things that you know are not true. If you fail to do a habit or you do end up being lazy, just forgive yourself. Learn from that mistake, get up and move on. Try your best not to make mistakes.

You Can Do It

Start today to be ‘that girl’ if you haven’t started already.

People Come Into Your Life As A Messenger or A Mirror / How To Make The Best Friends https://surobiscribbles.com/people-come-into-your-life-as-a-messenger-or-a-mirror-how-to-make-the-best-friends/ Sat, 05 Aug 2023 13:59:39 +0000 https://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1869 I have had my fair share of toxic friendships. From a young age, I had friends who made me feel like a queen for the first few months and then later treated me poorly. At some point in my mid-teens, I asked myself, is it just me? I don’t want to really trust anyone too much.

By the mercy of God, all my doubts were dispelled. Based on all the research I did for the past two-three years, I realised three things.

Number one is that I found my worth. Many teenagers and young people feel the need to fit in because they desire validation. Still, this validation is unhealthy because you are seeking stability from teenagers who aren’t even stable themselves. You should never be seeking validation from anyone anyways because you have to do what makes you happy long term. Once you find yourself valuable, you won’t make yourself small to fit in. Knowing that I am worthy all the time regardless of the situation and always doing what makes me happy long-term helped with picking the right friends who knew my value.

Number two is that female friendships can be quite tricky. Based on evolution, men were hunters millions of years ago, and because they went hunting as a pack, their genes are wired to work together well in groups, and many men don’t even need to have regular communication in order to remain friends. Men can also have arguments, but I believe it is usually less passive-aggressive than women. Women, on the other hand, are not accustomed to having female friends for many years, which is why girls usually gossip more and some can be toxic which causes them to spread rumours more. Women usually have more drama, and they require more regular communication to maintain their friendships. Female friendships are not as prioritised in society, and this is based on a scientific standpoint. Therefore, I understood why it was difficult for me to maintain female friendships, in a time where I wanted mature friends who would understand that I also needed my own space at times.

Lastly, I also believe that people come into your life as a messenger or a mirror. This is very significant.

When someone comes into your life as a messenger, this means that they are trying to teach you a new lesson. Whether they stay in your life or leave, they will teach you something that will help you in the future and with your future friendships. For example, one previous toxic friend taught me to be firm in my beliefs and not be manipulated easily. They taught me that it is crucial for me to have my own opinions and not apologise for them. Today, I am so firm in my beliefs that it makes me a much more confident person.

When people come into your life as a mirror, it means that they may come to trigger you to work on past behaviours or heal more or simply learn more about who you are. For example, I have a current friend who is very academic just like me which is a positive trait. She aligned with my energy. However, she is not into going out to new places very much, and I realised that perhaps if I want to attract friends who like travelling, I need to travel more myself. This process of knowing more about yourself and your friends is so rewarding.

The more I walked away from the people who were toxic and/or who did not align with my energy, and the more I kept working on myself, the more these people were filtered out of my life. After that, I have only been moving up tiers and levelling up and making better friends. I don’t need friends as my sole source. It is okay not to have too many friends as they might not be at your level, especially in your teenage years. I have learned to solo travel and do many things alone. Friends are only a bonus in your life.

My key is to keep working on myself and always be the person I would want as my best friend.

So, have your friends been a messenger or a mirror? Did you also have toxic friendships in the past? Comment below.

With love,

Surobi

How To Change Your Perspective And Live Your Best Life https://surobiscribbles.com/how-to-change-your-perspective-and-live-your-best-life/ Fri, 04 Aug 2023 11:17:18 +0000 https://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1865 Many people are living in this world feeling stuck. They go to personal development seminars, read endl

ess self-help books or even hire therapists or coaches that will help with self-improvement. The world is your oyster when it comes to how many resources are available today. And sometimes it is just hard to choose what to pick and what to follow.

Despite the endless resources, you may feel lost, confused or even not in control of your life. You keep feeling overwhelmed or sad.

Here is one of the keys that can help you: change your perspective. Now, you may ask, do I have to be dishonest to myself and lie to myself that everything is fine when it’s not? No, changing your perspective means simply seeking more knowledge, following your gut and embodying the high-value version of yourself daily. You need to show up as the person who has the mindset that your most high-value version of yourself would. For example, right now, you might not be wealthy and I don’t want you going and spending money on that Gucci bag just because your high-value version of yourself would. The key is to adopt and embody the beliefs, mindset and habits of your wealthy self. Perhaps your wealthiest version of yourself would be investing money or thinking about how to buy the next real estate property. Think about the structure, steps and beliefs that you need. Don’t leave this huge gap between the person you are right now and the person you want to become. This is key to start living and being your high-value version of yourself.

To ensure you also do not rush and overwhelm yourself to leave room for flow, make sure you do everything at your own pace by following your gut. This will help to make sure you are doing everything for you and you always do what is best for you

You have the power to choose the perspectives and thoughts that are always honest with yourself. By changing your perspective by being honest to yourself always through seeking more knowledge, following your gut and embodying your high-value value version of yourself daily, you can live your best life.

Comment below one way you will implement this advice this week and let’s keep each other accountable!

6 Life Lessons That Will Help You To Improve https://surobiscribbles.com/6-life-lessons-that-will-help-you-to-improve/ Thu, 03 Aug 2023 15:47:20 +0000 https://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1859 Everyone loves learning new life lessons as advice and self-development can inspire one to become the best version of themselves. Self-improvement can allow you to learn more about yourself so that you can live a more fulfilling life and learn from every experience that you have.

Alhamdulillah, I turned 18 years old on 19th July 2023. I honestly felt cool and like a grown-up with my responsibilities, which was very exciting! I am genuinely so grateful to Allah for being able to witness these eighteen years on this planet and I also want to share some of the wisdom that I learned in these eighteen years with you all!

So, in this article, I will share 6 of the 18 life lessons that I learned in 18 years of my life. These life lessons are based on self-development, self-love and becoming the best version of yourself. I hope that you benefit from this article, and let’s get started!

This is part 3 of this part 3 series. Check out part 1 here and part 2 here!

If you can’t solve a problem within 24 hours, then you need to speak up within 48 hours.

Many people do not know when to speak up when they have problems. Some spend too long trying to fix their problems on their own and bottle up their emotions while others try to vent every problem they have. So here is a rule of thumb that may help you: unless it is an emergency, speak up only if you can’t fix the problem within 24 hours and speak to someone within 48 hours.

By doing this you can build up your own problem-solving skills but at the same not bottle up your emotions and suffer with your problems.

Don’t compromise on your standards.

This is one you have to remind yourself constantly. And that is to never compromise on your standards and self-respect. Whether it is for your dream house or a partner, don’t think that your standards are too high. Of course, nothing is perfect in this world so you need to have at least three non-negotiables to ensure you are not compromising on your standards and hence your self-respect along the way. By having three non-negotiables, it ensures that you remember your worth and you don’t settle for less.

For those people who tell you that you are too picky or too difficult or too unrealistic, it is because of their scarcity mindset. Honour your three non-negotiables and stick to them as Allah finds you worthy and He wants to give you the best. People less qualified than you are also getting what you want.

Learn to love the bad days

When I was younger, I used to be harsh on myself whenever I would have a bad day. I would ask myself why I have bad days and thought it was abnormal to have bad days, or that everyone else is always happy. That is not true. Everyone has bad days, whether it is your teachers or whether it is your favourite celebrity. I have two things to help with this: 1. Love and accept your emotions but don’t follow your emotions

2. If you are feeling bad at night, you are probably just tired. 9 times out of 10, you will feel better when you get up the next morning. So try to have an early night.

Have the right support system (the 3-person rule)

I had to mention this one. And that is because so many young people are listening to whatever they can find. The truth is that I understand that Allah puts us all in different circumstances. Some of you may have been brought up with loving parents, while others are not so lucky and have been brought up with abusive parents. Some of you may have had parents that were loving but simply did not have enough time, while other parents had all the time but not the resources or the knowledge. So here is the 3 person rule: have someone who cares about you (preferably older and someone related to you who is similar in values to you), someone who is your role model and always look at someone who you don’t want to be like and don’t follow the wrong advice they give you. And of course, remember that you and Allah are also part of your support system.

Always do what makes you happy long term

This is the advice that we need to scream out, especially to young people: look at how your actions will affect you long term! Always think about your high-value version of yourself and embody your high-value version of yourself always. Would he/she be doing this action? If it is what your high-value version of yourself would do and if it makes you happy long term then do it. By doing this, you are not wrecking yourself down the line and suffering later. You can be happy long term by taking the right actions for the rest of your life.

Always follow your gut.

Your gut is a very powerful tool. Trust your gut always and don’t doubt your gut. If you doubt your gut, you are more likely to take the wrong decision. Always trust your gut fully when taking a decision. If a gut says yes to something, do that thing. This is because your gut gives you the best and the right decision for you based on all the knowledge you have. So many books and even Mufti Menk has talked about trusting your gut.

So always follow your gut!

That was the third part of six of the eighteen lessons I learnt in eighteen years of my life. I hope that this article benefitted you in any way. Please share this article with others, because what you share with the world comes back around to you!
