Today’s article was inspired by my own motivation of why I pray my Salah and also to assist all those people out there who ask: what is the point? What is the point of praying not once, not twice but 5 times a day? What is the point of cleansing yourself before prayer? What is the point of making prayer such a priority in our lives?

This article is for anyone out there – you might be someone who prays all your prayers, but at times when you might feel lazy or you want to reflect on why you pray, this article is for you. You might be someone who wants to start praying and you want to have a motivation to pray. Or perhaps you are a new Muslim or a non Muslim here to answer your questions on why Muslims are committed to their Salah. Worry not, this article is for you.

Disclaimer: There are an abundant number of reasons why Salah is a pillar of Islam. Here I have just listed a few of these reasons in this article.

To pray, you cleanse yourself which refreshes you physically and spiritually.

For our prayers, Muslims must ensure they are in a state of Wudhu (purity). For some, making Wudhu feels like a chore, but in reality Wudhu cleans you. Cleanliness is half of one’s faith in Islam and taking a break to make Wudhu is a great way to be clean and also wake you up, especially when you are fasting and have low energy levels. Also, a Hadith states that:

When a Muslim man performs ablution, his sins are removed from his hearing, his sight, his hands, and his legs. If he sits down, he will sit down forgiven. Musnad Aḥmad 21623, Grade: Sahih

Making Wudhu shows that you honour and respect your Lord.

Another major reason why making Wudhu is powerful and mandatory is because it logically makes sense. Imagine if you were to meet your favourite celebrity. Would you go to see them unclean and sluggish? No, you would ensure you are clean and you smell good and you look presentable. So why should there be an exception for our Lord? He is the Creator of the Heavens, the galaxies, and this Earth. Such a being deserves the utmost respect and honour when we go to talk to Him. That is why we clean ourselves before prayer.

Salah is a constant reminder why we are here on this Earth and who we worship.

Let’s be honest, it is very easy to get caught up with this world. It is very easy to forget in this world of materialism that we require spirituality in our hearts. We need that time to bring peace and remember in the good times and bad times, everything so temporary which can be liberating. We remember that Allah is the one who can help us and protect us and we should not be attached to anything else except Him.

Salah improves your physical and mental health.

I cannot even begin to explain how many scientists discover things and make it a trend after seeing all the benefits of it when that same thing was already told by us 1400 years ago from the Quran and Sunnah. An example is yoga. Many non Muslims do yoga to stay fit, remain flexible and destress and we Muslims already move our bodies five times a day during prayer. People also now have a gratitude journal and plan out their goals, but Salah already establishes this as you are grateful to Allah for your blessings and you can ask Allah for whatever you want that will make you happy long term.

Salah helps you to manage your time.

One tip that everyone should follow is to plan your day around Salah, rather than the other way round. The five prayer times are fixed, so when you are studying, you could tell yourself that you will complete one chapter before Asr and then do three chapters before Maghrib.

Salah helps you to refocus on your goals and remember your priorities.

Unfortunately, this world and social media has made it so easy for us to compare ourselves to each other. But Islam tells us to focus on ourselves and being the best version of ourselves. The time to make Dua to Allah is so powerful because you ask Allah for what you want and you remember that it is possible if Allah wills.

Salah is what differentiates a believer from a non believer.

One of the main motivations for me to start praying Salah was the fact that it differentiates a believer from a non believer.

“Between a man and shirk and kufr there stands his neglect of the prayer.” Muslim in Kitaab al-Eemaan

Salah is a commandment of Allah. It is the first thing asked when you die.

Salah is your foundation. The first thing asked when you die is whether you performed your Salah. It is the basis of faith. This is shown in the Hadith below.

“The first action for which a servant of Allah will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayers. If they are in order, he will have prospered and succeeded. If they are lacking, he will have failed and lost. Sunan al-Tirmidhī 413

Salah is a direct way to make your message heard in the Heavens.

One of the most beautiful things I heard was ‘Sujood is so powerful because when your head is on the ground, you are reaching the highest of Heavens.’

Salah deletes sins and reaps great rewards.

Every good deed is taken into account and is being taken on your scales for the Hereafter. Allah is All Hearing and All Seeing so He sees every time you pray your Salah, and every word you utter. Prayer is a form of Dhikr and Dhikr reaps rewards and deletes your sins.

Salah protects you from evil – both evil others put on you and also prevents you from committing sins.

The Quran states that:

“Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book, and perform the Salah. Verily, the Salah prevents from Al-Fahsha’ (immoral sins) and Al-Munkar (evil deeds) and the remembering (praising) of Allah is greater indeed. And Allah knows what you do.” Surah Al-Ankaboot (29:45)

There was also a video from Smile 2 Jannah where a real magician talks about how they find it difficult to do magic on Muslims who pray their Salah because praying Muslims are protected. You want to be protected and remain healthy? Pray your Salah.

Salah is a time where you can talk about your worries to the One who can solve them.

If we want to meet any celebrity such as Elon Musk or even Barack Obama, we need to book appointments and perhaps wait weeks, if not months to be able to talk to them. However, Allah, the Greatest and the Most Important has made it so easy for us to talk to Him. We just need to raise our hands and ask Allah to get rid of our problems, our struggles. How liberating is that?

Salah teaches you discipline.

Who would you consider more disciplined: the person who wakes up at 5am to pray in the morning, and then goes on about their day such as exercise or work, or the person who wakes up 15 minutes before their class starts and rushes to class with their pyjamas on looking tired? Of course, the former is more disciplined and more healthy. This is what prayer does to you. It gives you purpose to wake up and succeed. That is why the Adhan (call to prayer)  even says: ‘Come to prayer. Come to success.’

There are so many reasons I can discuss why Salah is crucial to success in all aspects of life, but I will finish here. I hope you found this article beneficial, and don’t be afraid to read this article whenever you need a reminder 🙂

How To Master Your Salah (Even At School or At Work) https://surobiscribbles.com/how-to-master-your-salah-even-at-school-or-at-work/ Sat, 11 Mar 2023 21:59:48 +0000 https://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1757

“Between a man and shirk and kufr there stands his neglect of the prayer.”

Narrated by Muslim in Kitaab al-Eemaan from Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allaah from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)

I know how it feels. You are a busy student in school, you may not have many Muslim friends, and you really want to pray your Salah in school, but you don’t know how to. How do you keep your Wudhu? How do you make the time to pray? How do you get rid of the embarrassment of someone walking into your room when you pray? Worry not, because in this article, I will be sharing with you all the tips on how to pray even in school or at work, whether you are a Hijabi or a non Hijabi.

What is Salah?

Salah is one of the pillars of Islam. Muslims perform prayers and pray their 5 prayers throughout the day at set assigned times.

Before school/work:

Make Wudhu.

Hopefully, you are making Wudhu in the morning for Fajr anyways. You can choose to keep this Wudhu on for the rest of the day or even do Wudhu right before you leave the house. Regardless of when you do Wudhu, wear a pair of socks while you are in the state of Wudhu. Even if you do not plan to break your Wudhu, if it ends happening, you can just do Masah over Socks.

Take the essentials with you.

If you are a non Hijabi, always keep a headscarf with you, preferably the long home ones. You can just buy one only to wear outside and always keep it in your bag. Also have a pocket prayer mat. If you wear makeup, and you suspect you will need to wipe your make up off, have a cleanser and cotton pads to wipe them off. Keep a water bottle to use in the toilet, if you need to use the toilet. For me as a Hijabi, I just carry a pocket prayer mat with me everywhere. I also keep a moisturiser to moisturise my face after Wudhu.

It might seem like a lot, but trust me, it is not that much in the long run.

Check the prayer times and make a to do list around your prayers.

This is the best way to ensure your prayers are incorporated. You can also fit your tasks around your prayers. Another reason why you should do this is because then you also know when your free periods are to make Wudhu so you can get prepared for prayer.

During School/Work:

Do Wudhu.

So it may feel a little scary to do this in public. But please do not be ashamed of doing Wudhu in front of others. Muslims will usually know what you are doing and if you encounter non Muslims, tell them that you are getting ready for prayer. If they have questions, seek knowledge about Wudhu. Remember that you are not only spreading Dawah but you are also cleansing yourself and your sins are falling off before prayer. So make Wudhu with confidence.

You also don’t need to wash your feet if you did Masah over socks. If you want more information about this, check out this article.

Find a spot to pray.

You are incredibly lucky if you have a prayer room in your school/work place. I am absolutely blessed that my school does have a prayer room and I thank Allah for it. If you don’t have access to a prayer room, find a spare room to pray in. No one should ever restrict you from prayer unless you are interrupting anything. Have the app on your phone to find the Qibla and then place your pocket prayer mat on the ground and pray!

Bonus tip: consistency is key!

On those days where your Imaan is low, you may find it hard to pray. There will be days where you ask yourself what is the point, you may feel lazy or too sad. But remember that Allah sees your efforts. And indeed, Allah promises that:

Make friends who also pray if possible! You can keep each other accountable! You can then start to go to Islamic events and improve even more. But always keep your intentions pure.

So keep praying! It will pay off in this life or/and in the Hereafter In Sha Allah!

That is it! That is how you pray!

Shaytan’s Khutbah / Discussing The Social Issues of the 21st Century https://surobiscribbles.com/shaytans-khutbah-discussing-the-social-issues-of-the-21st-century/ Sun, 29 Jan 2023 21:15:57 +0000 https://surobiscribbles.com/?p=1738

Assalamu Alaikum to the Muslims or hello to the non-Muslims! In this article, I will be sharing my fabulous and exciting trip to East London Mosque where I listened to a talk from The Sunnah Guy and Abu Taymiyyah. This happened on the 14th January 2023, and it was the first Islamic event I attended on 2023 Alhamdulillah. So what did I learn?

Disclaimer: As usual, I was not able to list all the lessons I learnt on this blog post, so I am just sharing some of the key highlights that I learned.

What is the ‘Shaytan’s Khutbah’ event?

This event happened in the East London Mosque, held by The Sunnah Guy and Abu Taymiyah. They discussed some of the social issues of the 21st century so it was the perfect talk for everyone.

Timeline of Events:

The doors opened at 6:30pm. My sister and I arrived slightly later. This event was so packed with thousands of people that they had to open up the first floor Subhanallah! My sister and I went upstairs and we were able to watch it from the big screen. It was spacious and there were many sisters there.

  1. First Speaker: The Sunnah Guy
  2. Prayed Isha in East London Mosque
  3. Second Speaker: Charity
  4. Third Speaker: Abu Taymiyah
  5. The Sunnah Guy and Abu Taymiyah
  6. QnA session

First Speaker: The Sunnah Guy

  • I was so excited to see The Sunnah Guy as his shorts on YouTube are very engaging and beneficial. You can find them here: https://youtube.com/@thesunnahguy
  • ‘The best of sinners are those who turn back to Allah.’
  • One’s desires are their shackles so don’t be fooled by social media as they may lack fulfilment and instead have the right expectations in this world
  • Focus on yourself and save yourself from the Hellfire by being with ode who encourage you to be on right path and never feel shy to be Muslim.

Second Speaker: Charity Partner

Third Speaker: Abu Taymiyah

  • There will be four directions which are the ways Shaytan takes you away from Allah:
  • Front – doubts about the Hereafter and religion (through philosophy)
  • Back – cause them to love the Dunya and keep asking ‘what’s next?’  when in reality the heart craves for its Creator.
  • Right – blocking away from knowledge.
  • Shaytan cannot come above and in between you and Allah.
  • Our ultimate purpose is to worship Allah.
  • Shaytan can use other tricks such as through pronouns/surgery/watching movies. But the most beloved act of Shaytan is drugs and intoxication.
  • Every man is for himself so don’t do evil acts for anyone and you are the one who accepts the invitation.
  • The two types of clothing are:
  • Clothing to wear on our bodies.
  • Clothing of Taqwa: having self consciousness
  • Men are made weak so be careful how you conduct yourself.
  • The more you learn about Allah, the more glorified it will become.
  • The 6 tricks of the devil: committing Kufr/Shirk, innovations, major sins, minor sins, busying yourself with what is less virtuous, and your family members.
  • Always ask yourself, ‘what is the root cause of all these sins?’
  • Everyone is welcome in the mosque, whether you are a non Hijabi or whether you are a niqabi, Whether you are a drug addict, whether you are practising or non practising, you are welcome into the mosque and into Islam.

Fourth Speaker: The Sunnah Guy and Abu Taymiyah

  • Stay close to your elders and a man and a woman should not be secluded.
  • The more Haram you do outside of marriage, the less Baraka in your marriage.
  • Men’s weakness are women and money so make sure you have good people around you.
  • Music will cause hypocrisy as it exposes you to women, takes you away from Quran and the love of music and Quran cannot happen together.

Q&A session

  • Work towards being a righteous person. Look for a wife not only with looks but also who will be a righteous mother.
  • To stop watching inappropriate content online, get rid of smartphone just like Sulaiman (pbuh) slaughtered his branded horse.
  • Pray two rakats when you fall into sin and keep going.

Food:

In terms of food, my sister each had our own egg bread which was bread containing egg which was really huge and quite delicious. We also had pakoras.

Alhamdulillah, this was my article on this amazing event! I really enjoyed this event by the mercy of Allah and I would highly recommend anyone to come to events such as these. It was very engaging and both speakers were fabulous (may Allah bless them).

Please share this article with anyone who can benefit.

Of course, as always Allah knows best.

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!

How To Incorporate Islam Into Your Busy Student Life https://surobiscribbles.com/how-to-incorporate-islam-into-your-busy-student-life/ Sun, 20 Dec 2020 19:56:10 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=898 Nowadays, many people get trapped in this world of materialism and sometimes feel that they need to take a pause to reflect on their purpose. When they search for their purpose in life, they sometimes reconnect with God.

Who is God? Does He exist? And can you really be practising your religion in the 21st century?

This is for all of you to answer but in today’s article, I will be sharing a few of my personal tips that have helped me to practise my religion Islam in the 21st century despite having other responsibilities such as school, social life, podcasting and even blogging on this website.

In Sha Allah, you will be able to incorporate some of this advice in your life.

Find out the ‘why’

Without knowing the ‘why’, you will never feel the motivation to get started. So before you jump into the complexities of Islam, you need to start off simple by doing your research. What are the core values of Islam? What are the five pillars that really makes a practising Muslim? Is it really that hard? Write a list of questions down and then try finding the answer. Islam is a way of life so you will find it.

You need to research but one thing I must say is that please try to get verified sources when researching such as the actual translation of the Qur’an, the six books of Hadith, YouTube channels like FreeQuranEducation, Bayyinah Institute, Mufti Menk and even Shaykh Hasan Ali.

It may feel overwhelming but do 5-10 minutes research every day and it will unravel the beauty of Islam.

Do not make it seem as a chore

When you are researching, please do not make it feel like a chore. This is why I advise you to research at your own pace and try to understand everything carefully. If you see something you disagree with, ask questions. ‘Seeking knowledge is a compulsion on every Muslim.’

Get involved with people

If you do have people around you who are practising Muslims, then do go and speak to them. Again, please take into mind that a practising Muslim is NOT equal to Islam or perfection. You need to figure out what you believe in because everyone has their own way of following the religion.

Know your priorities

A lot of young people neglect their religion because they believe that they don’t have enough time. However, recently I watched a TED talk and the speaker said that it’s not about not having enough time, it’s just that that activity is not a priority. So, many young people don’t pray because praying is not a priority to them, and not because they don’t have enough time. Praying is powerful because it helps you in your hard times, it structures your routine and makes you feel like someone is always there for you, so make it a priority.

Incorporate it into your to do lists

If you keep forgetting to pray, start small. Write the prayers in your to do lists and use the MuslimPro app to alert you when it is Adhan time. So, your to do list which is essentially your list of priorities of the day will have your Salahs on it and you will be reminded to pray.

What to do if you don’t feel like to practise it:

If you start your journey of practising Islam, you may have obstacles. But you would have had obstacles anyways even if you didn’t practise Islam. So I would advise you to carry on and go for it. Remember, Satan is trying to make you feel like it’s so hard to practise Islam when in reality, it is surely achievable and will transform your life for the better. Just believe in it.

Please do not give up. It is a sign that you received this article, whether it’s because you are feeling upset, want to know who God is or you just want to practise your religion more.

Allah knows best.

Thank you for reading, and have a lovely day!

7 Lessons From Prophets Elyas, Yasa and Isaiah (pbut) / The Prophets Series of Ramadan 2020 https://surobiscribbles.com/7-lessons-from-prophets-elyas-yasa-and-isaiah-pbut-the-prophets-series-of-ramadan-2020/ Mon, 18 May 2020 22:08:44 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=624 And Ilyas was most surely of the messengers. (Surah 37:123)

And remember Ismā‘īl and Al-Yasa‘ and Dhul-Kifl (Isaiah). Each one of them was among the best of the righteous (Surah 38:48)

Assalamu alaikum, fellow Muslims and non-Muslims.

We may all know the importance of the Qur’an, the Holy Book written by Allah (swt). However, we may not necessarily follow the teachings of the Qur’an and follow the role models that were sent to the Earth to spread the word of Islam. In order to remind you of the important lessons taught by each of the significant prophets mentioned in the Qur’an, I will In Sha Allah, be starting a prophets series. This will contain lessons I learnt from each of the prophets. I am trying my best to In Sha Allah post every day of Ramadan about each prophet.

Today, we will talk about our twenty-second prophet, who is Elyas or Elijah (pbuh). I will also be talking about the twenty-third prophet, Yasa or Elisha (pbuh). And lastly, I will also be sharing some lessons from Prophet Isaiah or Shia (pbuh). If you would like to know the stories, sources are available below. If I also make any mistakes, I apologise and Allah (swt) knows the best.

What I learnt from Prophet Elyas (pbuh)

Marry someone who is Muslim

Because his wife was a disbeliever, the King of Samaria was influenced and started idol worshipping.

What I learnt from Prophet Yasa (pbuh)

You can learn good deeds from others.

Yasa (pbuh) was a student of Elyas (pbuh) for about 10-12 years.

What I learnt from Prophet Isaiah (pbuh)

Not all prophets are mentioned in the Qur’an

Prophet Isaiah (pbuh) was not mentioned in the Qur’an but Ibn Kathir had some information about him.

There is always hope.

The kingdom of Judah in Bani Israel was first led by a bad king who was a disbeliever. His kingdom had many idol worshippers. Isaiah (pbuh) warned his people and told them that if they did not worship Allah, their enemies will take over. Luckily, later Hezekiah a good king who was a Muslim came and destroyed all the idols.

Allah is the most merciful.

Once, when Hezekiah had his foot infected and the enemy (Assyrian empire) was coming to attack the kingdom of Judah, Hezekiah became scared. When he found out from Prophet Isaiah (pbuh) that he was going to die, he asked for forgiveness and to accept all his good work.

Allah being merciful, accepted his prayers and saved Hezekiah’s kingdom from the enemy. He also granted Hezekiah 15 more years of life.

Allah cured his foot infection.

The Bani Israel were very ungrateful and forgetful.

When King Hezekiah was alive, everyone in his kingdom stopped idol worshipping but after the king died, everyone went back to idol worshipping.

You need to protect yourself from danger.

Allah has told us to make dua and supplicate to Him but also protect ourselves if needed. When the Bani Israel threatened to kill Prophet Isaiah (pbuh), some sources say he escaped.

These were some of the lessons that I captured from Elyas, Yasa and Isaiah (pbut). The stories of Elyas, Yasa and Isaiah (pbut) is beautifully said in this Youtube video and book which I used to create this article:

Please share this article with your family and friends to get some rewards this Ramadan. In Sha Allah you will stay well.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!

9 Lessons From Prophet Sulaiman (pbuh) / The Prophets Series of Ramadan 2020 https://surobiscribbles.com/9-lessons-from-prophet-sulaiman-pbuh-the-prophets-series-of-ramadan-2020/ Sat, 16 May 2020 23:35:34 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=621 And Solomon had inherited Dawud, and he (Solomon) said, “O people! We have been taught the language of birds and we are given everything. Really, (all) this is truly a gift. ” (Surah 27:16)

Today, we will talk about our twenty-first prophet, who is Sulaiman or Solomon (pbuh). If you would like to know the story, sources are available below. If I also make any mistakes, I apologise and Allah (swt) knows the best.

Listen to both sides of judgement.

Once there were two women who each had one child, and when their mothers were at work, one of the babies were eaten. The mother whose child was eaten wanted to take the other woman’s baby. They decided to get judgement from Sulaiman (pbuh) and he listened to both parties to give a fair judgement.

Put faith in Allah.

Sulaiman (pbuh), just like all other prophets, had a strong faith in Allah (swt). This is vital to be a Muslim.

Don’t kill animals and appreciate nature.

Once Sulaiman (pbuh) and his army were going, and the ants were scared as they would be crushed by the army. Sulaiman (pbuh) heard the ants and ordered his army to be careful of the ants and not to kill them.

Allah can do anything.

Allah gave the miracle to Sulaiman (pbuh) to be able to control the wind.

Black magic is Haram.

Many people at the time discovered balck magic to inflict harm upon others, but this is forbidden. Sulaiman (pbuh) took all the magic and buried it under his throne so no one would get access to it but the people unburied it after he passed away.

You cannot worship anything else.

Allah is the one and only God and we cannot worship anyone else. The Queen of Sheba at the time worshipped the sun. Through some miracles, the Queen of Sheba accepted Islam as she realised how Islam is the true religion.

Do not desire for war, troubles or hardships.

The Queen of Sheba tried sending expensive gifts to avoid war with Sulaiman (pbuh) and his army when they tried to invite her to Islam. She was a strong and intelligent woman.

Women can be confident and modest.

The Queen of Sheba, after becoming a Muslim, is a good representative of being a wise woman.

All the evidence for a complete way of life is in the Qur’an.

Chapter 27 verses 20-44 in the Qur’an is the reference to find information about Sulaiman (pbuh).

These were some of the lessons that I captured from Sulaiman (pbuh). The story of Sulaiman (pbuh) is beautifully said in this Youtube video and book which I used to create this article:

Please share this article with your family and friends to get some rewards this Ramadan. In Sha Allah you will stay well.

12 Lessons From Prophet Dawud (pbuh) / The Prophets Series of Ramadan 2020 https://surobiscribbles.com/12-lessons-from-prophet-dawud-pbuh-the-prophets-series-of-ramadan-2020/ Sat, 16 May 2020 23:31:27 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=618 And Solomon had inherited Dawud, and he (Solomon) said, “O people! We have been taught the language of birds and we are given everything. Really, (all) this is truly a gift. ” (Surah 27:16)

Today, we will talk about our twentieth prophet, who is Dawud or David (pbuh). If you would like to know the story, sources are available below. If I also make any mistakes, I apologise and Allah (swt) knows the best.

Being strong physically and mentally is important for you. You should also try to seek knowledge.

Talut had all these characteristics which made him fit to be a king, as commanded by Allah. Therefore, after showing a sign, the Bani Israel accepted Talut as a king.

You can be tested by Allah in several ways.

Allah tested the Bani Israel army to see if they would drink the water that He told them not to drink and if they must, they can only drink one sip of water. Lots of people from the Bani Israel drank lots of water.

You can make someone lose their trust upon you very easily.

Talut did not take the Bani Israel who did not follow his commands.

Most of the time, it is quality over quantity.

The Bani Israel who now had such a small army felt scared and some of them decided to run away which meant they had little faith in Allah. But the Bani Israel army was destined to win as they had worked hard and had Allah by their side.

Showing off to others is really disliked by Allah.

Jalut, the big leader of the army on the other side, wanted to show off his strength by challenging anyone from Bani Israel to fight him.

Do not fear people, just believe in Allah.

Dawud (pbuh) as a young teenager volunteered to fight with Jalut even though everyone else was scared. He had a strong faith in Allah and had power from Him. Dawud (pbuh) killed Jalut and Bani Israel won the war.

You will be rewarded for your faith in Allah.

Dawud (pbuh) was rewarded for being so faithful to Allah that he married King Talut’s daughter, became the king’s advisor and became a prophet. He also received a special power which was that he had the most beautiful voice in the world. He also knew the language of birds and animals. He also gave Dawud (pbuh) special knowledge to be a very good judge. He could also mould iron and make it to any shape.

Always give your judgement about something after hearing both sides of the party.

Dawud (pbuh) learnt that he should do this when two angels came to his prayer room to solve their problem and then Dawud (pbuh) started saying his judgement before hearing both parties.

This was wrong.

Earning your own money for your own living expenses is better if you can do that.

Dawud (pbuh), from the advice of an angel, started to earn his own money by seeking weapons for his living expenses rather than using his treasury from being a king.

Good inventions are amazing.

Dawud (pbuh) invented a new way of making shields and also making the armor more flexible and lighter for the soldiers.

No one can escape the Angel of Death.

When Allah commands, He will tell the Angel of Death to come and take your soul away and not even a king like Dawud (pbuh) can escape that. Never commit suicide as only Allah can decide when you will die.

You can supplicate for a dead person to go to Jannah and earn rewards.

A lot of people came to pray for Dawud’s funeral and do his Janazah.

These were some of the lessons that I captured from Dawud (pbuh). The story of Dawud (pbuh) is beautifully said in this Youtube video which I used to create this article:

8 Lessons From Prophet Shammil (pbuh) / The Prophets Series of Ramadan 2020 https://surobiscribbles.com/8-lessons-from-prophet-shammil-pbuh-the-prophets-series-of-ramadan-2020/ Sat, 16 May 2020 23:27:48 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=615 And their Prophet (Samuel) said to them, “Indeed Allah has appointed Talut (Saul) as a king over you (Surah 2:247)

Today, we will talk about our nineteenth prophet, who is Shammil or Samuel (pbuh). If you would like to know the story, sources are available below. If I also make any mistakes, I apologise and Allah (swt) knows the best.

Don’t break the unity

Unity is vital for everyone and it is what Islam makes good, so as Muslims we can stay united e.g. congregation in Salah. Bani Israel broke off the unity.

Do not believe that any object gives you luck.

The Bani Israel believed that this box they had was a blessing box which made them win all the wars. This is untrue as you only win something due to Allah helping you and the hard work you put in.

You should be brave and keep faith in Allah to do His commands.

The Bani Israel wanted to fight the Philistine who had taken their women and children, and also choose a king for them as Shammil (pbuh) was old at the time. But Shammil (pbuh) knew that when the Bani Israel had to fight the enemies, they would refuse as they would not be brave.

Never underestimate the poor or the people of lower status.

Allah finds everyone equal and Allah chose Talut, an intelligent Muslim as the king for Bani Israel even though he was a poor farmer.

If you are given a good opportunity, don’t underestimate yourself and thank Allah.

Talut was very shocked when Shammil (pbuh) told him to be the king of Bani Israel. Talut knew this was a responsible job and he was just an ordinary poor man. But if you think it is right, be thankful to Allah, follow his command and do it.

You will be rewarded for your hard work and following Allah.

Talut possibly earned the reward of believing in Islam by becoming king.

Be humble.

The Bani Israel was arrogant and refused to accept Talut as a king as he was poorer and lower in status than them. You should accept Allah’s command and remember that Allah has blessed you with many gifts.

Help others.

You should help others if you can as Shammil (pbuh) helped guide Dawud (pbuh) during his lifetime.

These were some of the lessons that I captured from Shammil (pbuh). The story of Shammil (pbuh) is beautifully said in this Youtube video which I used to create this article:

4 Lessons From Prophet Yusha (pbuh) / The Prophets Series of Ramadan 2020 https://surobiscribbles.com/4-lessons-from-prophet-yusha-pbuh-the-prophets-series-of-ramadan-2020/ Sun, 10 May 2020 17:00:00 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=611 ‘Allah had bestowed His Grace [they were Yusha’ (Joshua) and Kalab (Caleb)] said: “Assault them through’ (Surah 5:23)

Today, we will talk about our eighteenth prophet, who is Yusha or Joshua (pbuh). If you would like to know the story, sources are available below. If I also make any mistakes, I apologise and Allah (swt) knows the best.

Allah will give you rewards for keeping faith in Him.

When the Bani Israel refused to fight the people in Palestine, only the prophets, Yusha (pbuh) and his friend Caleb had faith in Allah and encouraged them to fight and win the city of the promised land that was a land of many prophets (as commanded by Allah).

After the Bani Israel refused, no adult from Bani Israel could enter Palestine but Allah allowed only Prophet Yusha (pbuh) and Caleb to enter the city.

Not everyone can become a prophet.

Caleb had a faith in Allah but Allah did not choose him as a prophet according to some sources.

Allah is so merciful.

Allah stopped the sun from setting when the new generation of Bani Israel were fighting because the day after that would be Sabbath. This was the only time in history where the sun stopped from setting due to Yusha’s request until the Bani Israel got victory.

Back in those times, the spoils of war (assets or money from the enemies that you have won from) were burned and destroyed.

Yusha (pbuh) instructed everyone to get all the wealth and put it into one place but the miracle fire that Allah sent was waiting. This was because one man’s tribe had evil people who were hiding some wealth from the enemies. Yusha (pbuh) made those people hiding their wealth give their wealth. It was all burned and all the items disappeared.

He passed away at the age of 100 after guiding the Bani Israel for twenty eight years after Prophet Musa (pbuh). He died in Palestine.

These were some of the lessons that I captured from Yusha (pbuh). The story of Yusha (pbuh) is beautifully said in this Youtube video which I used to create this article:

34 Lessons From Prophet Musa (pbuh) / The Prophets Series of Ramadan 2020 https://surobiscribbles.com/34-lessons-from-prophet-musa-pbuh-the-prophets-series-of-ramadan-2020/ Sat, 09 May 2020 17:00:00 +0000 http://surobiscribbles.com/?p=609 ‘And what has caused you to hasten from your people?’ (Surah 20:83)

Today, we will talk about our sixteenth prophet, who is Musa (pbuh). This is part 2 of his story. If you would like to know the story, sources are available below. If I also make any mistakes, I apologise and Allah (swt) knows the best.

Do not fear people of this world.

Bani Israel became scared when the Pharaoh and his people were coming. They were willing to surrender to him but Musa (pbuh) told them not to be scared of the Pharaoh and to only keep faith in Allah. As long as you are good and don’t break the law, you should not be scared of people.

Allah can do anything even in the last minute.

Keep faith in Allah as He helped the Bani Israel in the last second and split the sea to save the Bani Israel.

Do not lie.

Lying is a big punishment in Islam and the Pharaoh lied that the sea split up in his command and when he tried running behind the Bani Israel, all the Egyptians drowned and died.

Allah has the power to choose who He forgives.

The Pharaoh declared his Shahada before passing away but Allah did not accept as He had given so many chances for the Pharaoh to worship Allah in his lifetime but he did not listen.

This is why we must be sincere when seeking forgiveness from Allah in the hope that Allah will accept it.

Arrogance had killed the Pharaoh.

Surely, you must be humble and believe that only Allah has all the power in the world.

Allah proved that He exists through so many miracles.

Musa (pbuh) struck a rock and twelve different water fountains came out for each tribe of Bani Israel. He gave clouds to protect Bani Israel from the sun in the daytime while they were journeying to Mount Sinai. Allah also gave manna and salwa from the sky to them as food. They were told to be grateful, eat the blessed food and worship Allah.

You must follow all the commands of Allah, just like the prophets did.

Musa (pbuh) went and fasted for 40 days and worshipped Allah because of Allah’s command.

Allah is so beautiful and great that we do not have the ability to see Him.

When Allah showed a very tiny light of Him to the mountains, the mountains turned into dust and Musa (pbuh) became senseless.

Kohl is also Sunnah.

The source of Kohl is some kind of black ithmid stone.

Be grateful for what you get.

After Musa (pbuh) woke up, he seeked forgiveness from Allah. Allah reminded Musa (pbuh) that he should be grateful that Allah made him a prophet.

The famous ten commandments of the Torah were given to Musa (pbuh) written on stone.

The Torah is one of the Holy Books today.

Idol worshipping and making idols is still Haram.

An evil man named Samiri made a golden idol in the form of a cow with all the stolen gold from the Egyptians for the Bani Israel to worship which was a big sin. It distracts you from the remembrance of Allah.

No magic is bigger than the miracles of Allah.

Samiri did some magical actions like putting a hole in the cow to produce sounds as magic to impress the people and convince them that the cow was a living god (Astaghfirullah).

Control your anger.

When Musa (pbuh) saw that some of the Bani Israel were worshipping idols, he became angry, took hold of his brother Harun’s hair and beard and dragged him to the crowd. This was not right.

You can’t make any excuses to cover up your sins.

Take responsibility for your sins and repent to Allah. Samiri tried convincing them that the cow was holy as he used a special dust but this still encouraged the Haram act of idol worshipping.

A curse is powerful.

Musa (pbuh) cursed Samiri and from that day, he got a skin disease where no one could come near him or touch him. However, we should not curse anyone.

You should not want to see Allah.

He has already given us enough miracles to prove that He exists and us humans, we do not have the ability to see Him.

Allah can give life after death and He will do this to us on the Day of Judgement.

Allah gave life to the 70 dead leaders of Bani Israel who asked to see Allah, upon Musa’s request.

Allah accepts most prayers.

Allah commanded the Bani Israel to kill each other as pardon. We should never kill others or anyone. When Musa and Harun (pbut) asked Allah to forgive the Bani Israel, Allah being very merciful accepted their request. Everything became dark and Allah had forgiven everyone’s sins.

Laziness is a very bad characteristic.

The Bani Israel were too lazy to follow Allah’s laws and they rejected the law. This made Allah very upset.

There were 12 tribes in Bani Israel because there were 12 sons of Israel or Yaqub (pbuh).

The 12 leaders from each tribe went to Palestine to get information about that place. The people of Palestine were big and strong. 10 leaders were scared but 2 of the leaders were brave and one of them was Prophet Yusha or Joshua (pbuh).

Palestine was the gifted land for the Bani Israel.

The Bani Israel rejected fighting the Palestinians and getting that land.

Allah usually gives you many opportunities for you to have a beautiful life.

Allah gave the Bani Israel the chance to go to Palestine, but because they refused, Musa (pbuh) cursed them and Allah refused to give their promised land for 40 years.

They did not find their way to Palestine.

Allah is still very kind and merciful.

He still gave Manna and Salwa to the Bani Israel even though they had wronged.

You should not complain and instead pray to Allah and work hard.

The Bani Israel wanted new foods despite getting the blessed Manna and Salwa, and Musa (pbuh) being surprised and sad told them to get food from the town.

Even if you are poor or have the worst life, depend on Allah.

There was a very poor and pious man in the Gulf of Aqaba and when he passed away, he requested Allah to take care of his wife, son, home and baby cow. He wanted the baby cow to be in the forest as others might take the cow.

Be obedient to your parents for the good.

The boy went to the forest after a few years in the command of his mother with the trust to Allah to look for the cow.  Don’t talk back or question your parents if they are telling you to do something for good.

Allah can give you tests and trials and we must try to overcome them with His help.

Allah wanted the Bani Israel to find out the killer of the wealthy man (who was the nephew) of that time by killing a cow, and putting a piece of its meat on the man. A cow was specifically chosen to see if they still believed a cow was their god.

Don’t overcomplicate the religion and just seek help from an Imam or trusted Muslims.

The Bani Israel wanted to know which specific cow to kill and kept questioning Allah’s commands until it was hard for them and they had to kill the previous boy’s cow from the forest.

Don’t let worldly matters get in the way of your religion.

The Bani Israel wanted to catch the fish on the day where the most fish came and this was on the Sabbath day by putting traps out. The bad people became monkeys as punishments. This broke Allah’s laws. Just work hard but also focus on your religion and keep a moderation or balance.

Do not spread rumours or backbite about others.

The Bani Israel spread a scandal that Musa (pbuh) had a bad skin disease which is why he always covered himself. Allah revealed to the Bani Israel that this was false. You will be caught for spreading rumours.

In Islam, marriage is mustahab.

Musa (pbuh) was not confirmed to have any children but he was married apparently.

You will be punished for your sins.

When the Bani Israel ended their 40 years of wandering around, they were told to enter the city (maybe Shittim, eastern side of Jordan), by lowering their heads and say a specific word and being kind, grateful and gentle to Allah. Bani Israel did not follow His commands. Allah punished them with a skin disease like the plague.

Allah respected the prophets a lot.

When Musa (pbuh) neared his death, the Angel of Death came and Musa (pbuh) slapped him one the. The Angel of Death went to Allah and told Him that Musa (pbuh) did not want to die. Allah gave Musa (pbuh) a chance to live for a few more years but Musa (pbuh) refused and accepted Allah’s command. He passed away close to the holy land at Mount Nebo at age 123 years old. We should never attempt and commit suicide as Allah has the will to take away our life whenever He wants.

These were some of the lessons that I captured from Musa (pbuh). The story of Musa (pbuh) is beautifully said in this Youtube video which I used to create this article:
