During the summer after my GCSE exams (June 2021), my sister and I used to indulge in watching videos of the best places in London, and we would watch the ‘Insider’ Youtube channel. We came across ‘Chin Chin Lab’ which was rated the best hot chocolate in London. My sister and I were pumped with excitement and adrenaline to try this but was it worth that grand title?

What is Chin Chin Labs?

Chin Chin Labs is known to be ‘Europe’s First Liquid Nitrogen Ice-Cream Parlour’. It also sells the ‘best hot chocolate in London.’

What I Ordered And My Opinions On It:

Signature Hot Chocolate (£4.95)

My sister and I both got the signature hot chocolate. Firstly, we realised that the size of the hot chocolate was quite small, much smaller than the one shown in the video (the video was old though). Secondly, we realised how creamy it looked at the top with all the whipped cream and I wanted to feel the texture. Thirdly, you have to be careful as it is very easy to spill the hot chocolate (which we actually did). In terms of execution, yes, it was hot chocolate.

But when it comes to taste, it did not meet up to my expectations. I didn’t taste authentic hot chocolate, it was more like chocolate milk that could be made at home. The texture of the liquid was also not that great. To conclude, it was definitely overrated. I would rate it a ⅗,

The Place:

The shop was very small and there were seating areas outside when we went. It also wasn’t that clean.

The Service:

The staff and service was good and the waiting time was decent as there were only about 1-3 customers there. They made hot chocolate.

Would I Recommend It?

Overall, I felt that this hot chocolate was okay and I have tasted better hot chocolates than this. I was quite disappointed and to me, it did not deserve the title of being the best hot chocolate. I think the only positive for this hot chocolate is its unique and cool presentation, perfect for your Instagram feed.
