Shake Town Restaurant Review / Was It Worth The Money?

In August 2021, my sister and I decided to go and have lunch at Shake Town. It was a new restaurant that opened up in Leyton, and the exterior of the shop looked so pretty, so we went ahead and tried it. But, was it worth the hype and the money we spent?

What is Shake Town?

Shake Town is a dessert parlour. It sells hot food, desserts and milkshakes.

What I Ordered And My Opinions On It:

Chicken And Waffle (£9.95)

The meal that we were most excited to try was the chicken and waffle meal. This meal served chicken with a large waffle, almost the size of a 7” pizza, some salad and some honey for the waffles. Overall, I found this combination to be great, as the chicken was crispy and the waffles acted like ‘roti’ or tortilla which is a classic for Asians. However, the honey was WAY too sweet and this meant that it made the meal feel like a dessert rather than a lunch. Also, it was a very simple meal, which may not have been worth the full price as the waffle was pre-made.

My sister tried the spicy chicken and waffles and she had similar opinions to me.

The Place:

The appearance of the shop was beautiful – it had nice sofas with quotes such as ‘Count memories not calories’ which were perfect for taking photos with. It also had colourful flowers inside, where my sister and I sat which gave Elan Cafe vibes. But, the music was extremely loud and it was like rap, which meant that my sister and I had to shout to have a conversation and this loud music made the experience a bit unpleasant.

The Service:

The staff and service was good and the waiting time was quite long, again bearing in mind that the waffles looked pre-made.

Would I Recommend It?

Overall, I would recommend trying food from this place once. It is good for just having lunch/dinner with your family/friends once, but after you have taken photos there and tried the food, I felt that it was not worth going again.

My Rating: 3/5

My Rating System:

⅕ – was below average and would not recommend even trying once

⅖ – the food was average and would not recommend trying

⅗ – the food was delicious but would recommend trying maximum once

⅘ – the food was really good and would recommend trying here

5/5 – the food was outstanding and is one of my favourites!
