For Eid ul Adha (31st July) 2020, I and my sister decided to travel to a new restaurant and try some new food. We settled for this Turkish restaurant near us and we decided to get ready and eat in at that restaurant, with pretty high expectations as we had seen some mouthwatering images of the food and the menu was pretty impressive. So, were I and my sister satisfied with the food from Gokyuzu?
What is Gokyuzu Restaurant?
The restaurant website is described to be ‘the home if deliciously authentic and fabulously fresh Turkish dining in London’.
What did I like about Gokyuzu Restaurant?
- The restaurant in itself was quite clean when we arrived and there weren’t too many people (we went at around 2 pm).
- There were plenty of staff there at the ready if you wanted something, but some may want their own privacy.
- The free starter and the free Turkish tea, in the end, was pretty good.
- It took a pretty reasonable amount of time for the food to come.
- The Greek Salad had a nice plating and tasted pretty good too.
- The drink that I got was ‘My Heaven’ and it was a very nice mocktail.
What did I not like about Gokyuzu Restaurant?
- When it comes to the main meal itself, I was not too impressed. The main meal I and my sister got was the ‘Lamb Kleftiko’ as it was the Chef’s Special. We were not too satisfied as the plating wasn’t very appealing to us and there wasn’t much meat. There was a bit too much sauce and the vegetable was okay.
- When it comes to pricing, my sister found that she was disappointed for what she paid for and I thought it was okay.
Would I recommend it?
I would not recommend taking the Lamb Kleftiko but as a whole, the restaurant wasn’t up to my standards and the food was just okay. I may recommend this restaurant but there are other better Turkish restaurants.
When it comes to my sister, she was highly disappointed with the food and she would not recommend it, especially for the price.
